What is your Opinion? I know everyone has one...

And, if anyone has LINKS to any Scientific Studies...That Would Be Cool!

Does anyone else see the irony in this statement?

Does anyone think marijuana and working out go together or not?

Never done it (can't see WHY I would). I'm sure I'd be fine if a smidge... but if I were really high I think I'd just feel awkward and self-concious. Seems a waste to me - when I could be writing music (a fave activity in such a state)... or playing video games instead. icon_lol.gif

Whether they go together or not has to do with how you respond to pot. If you can handle it, it might make a workout more enjoyable. I've enjoyed a long run while high (years and years ago), but I did not enjoy the gym when stoned.

There are benefits from a scientific perspective though. There's evidence of marijuana alleviating pain and relaxing involuntary muscle tension, which would both make a more comfortable workout.

My allergies can't handle the stuff, unless it's condensed. Like in Kiss form from a guy that just smoked some. That's my favorite way to get some.

I have known of individuals who swear by it....but they only smoke a little, before working out. They say that when you first smoke you release more adrenaline into your system, so therefore it helps in a prolonged workout. Plus like the guy above mentioned it helps with muscle tensionicon_wink.gif

Also, I believe that smoking marijuana causes an elevation in heart rate- which may be the reason some like to use it before a workout...

SteamyWeenie saidwhen i first started working out i was always high. always. i cant remember my workouts worth a damn but i can tell u that once i sobered up, i was in kick ass shape and any muscle aches you'd normally have after ur workouts, were nonexistent. but, it affects people differently, for me, determination helped a lot. but i have to admit, im one of those that would need very little otherwise i'd start having racing thoughts and for some reason just cant seem to f'in move!

... and then the hunger kicks in.. icon_eek.gif ever since i converted to scientology though, i havent touched the stuff.

    Interesting. Thanks for your input.

Not interested. Did it a bit in high school with some friends whose group I sang with.......but once they got high they didn't want to rehearse. What a waste.....here I was saying, "Come on - let's go over these numbers and get them right" but those on pot were finished for the afternoon.

Nobody I know who made it to a great school did so sitting around smoking pot. I saw both sides of life - - - - with and without pot. I got sick and tired of sitting around laughing or staring at Grateful Dead album covers - trying for hours to see what Jerry Garcia's message was. No thanks! I sure as heck don't think that goes with staying healthy and working out. Of all my friends from back then, those who made anything of themselves put away their pot a long time ago.
