Alot of changes being done to my gym currently - one of which is they just got rid of ALL the natural squat racks. So, that's only 2 smith racks in there - with all those who use the Smith rack alone for Chest & Shoulders, gonna make a leg day tough! haha Ugh, & I just rejoined this gym too..!! Shit happens I guess - I'll just find ways to get creative w/ Leg Press, Dumb Bells, & on the Smith rack.

Any guys out there who've built up good size on Legs/Glutes through use of Smith Rack?? icon_confused.gif

You should complain to the management. They should keep at least one squat rack.

My gym only has one squat rack. On my leg days, I usually have to rush to the gym before it gets too crowded and a line starts forming. It's kinda ridiculous sometimes.

I´d complain, and depending on other factors might even demand my money back and go somewhere else. But yeah, you are not going to DIE cos you can´t squat.

Well, some have ... I asked a few questions concerning it. But, Didn't want to seem a issue. Naw, I'm sure I can still make good use of a Smith Rack for squats - among other alternative exercises to bar squats.

Make an issue of it, your a member of a gym, they should be adding equipment not taking it away.

We recently got a "torsonator" and lost this kewl spot to do lots of my workout with kettle bells and such which sucks, and just using an olympic bar in the corner was more then acceptable..

anyway, got two place to do squats plus a smith machine and a hack squat thingy plus a few other pieces, I'd be uber pissed if they took the squat stuff away, it's pivotal to a good full body workout.

Scream and complain until they either cancel your membership or put it back

I've always wondered about the advantages vs. disadvan. to the smith. Ours is "floating" but still locks you into a predetermined vertical line,w/no variation. Seems like your (crap,it's early & cold here, hope I'm naming the right junction!)ACL would be untrained for the quick stops and changes in direction in sports like football, soccor, basketball, and golf (if your Tiger!!!!). Anyway Big,COMPLAIN,COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN.

A line? Oh, hell no! I would never be a member of a gym that is so overcrowded. Are there any other gyms you can go to without this extra worry?

uh-uh, no, no, no.....oh, HAIL no! No! You don't find ways to get creative, you get the fudge out of that neanderthal gym. You get in front of the manager's face and snap your fingers repeatedly within 10 inches of his nose until he brings it back. If unsuccessful, you show contempt and walk your meaty ass right out the front door. Taking the squat rack out constitutes the "shit" which just happened. There is no greater sinful act for the operators of a gym than that of taking the squat rack away from the gym. You are not, I repeat, you are NOT, under any circumstances to allow others to be responsible for your pussification. That's right, I come prepared for the hate mail, but unless a guy has some unknown physical condition, he is a pussy for going to the smith machines. I can't emphasize this enough: Do NOT, do NOT, let them turn you into a pussy! Run, buddy, ruuuuun. If they took the squat rack away from me, I would throw a tantrum....haha. 18.gif

For me, a Smith Rack has a very unnatural movement for squats. I would use the Hack Squat Machine.

Well COLLEGSTUD - appreciate it BUT probably just me - I wouldn't & don't judge others for the type of equipment used.

Dang, ya'll all got me worried that I won't succeed at all w/o a squat rack. Dang.

I don't like gyms that have more machines than they have stations for free weights. My gym has a perfect balance between the two but I quite 24-hour Fitness because it seemed like it was 75% machines. Then again, maybe they have been monitoring the usage of certain machines and determined that this machine is used very rarely. Which probably means you're in the wrong gym.

it's not that you wont succeed without a squat rack, there are many many ways to accomplish what you want without a rack, but it's a lot easier and safer with a rack.

The smith machine i useful but limited.

I go to this gym that AKA is talking about, and I talked to the owner and he said that he is working on updating alot of the equipment, so this could be one of them!? Not sure, he didn't mention that particular equipment to me when we talked, will find out soon enough! lol

True tanker! Again, I'll have to get creative & find new ways/exercises for them GLUTES & Quads/Hamstrings. But daaaang! I was getting into the swing of things w/ FINALLY moving up in weight on the natural bar & doing the Dead Lifts.

    Buh hum bug! lol

For once, I'll QUIT worrying over it!! icon_smile.gif

I know you have mentioned before you have body dysmorphia or some other body image issue .. But really I would not worry a whole lot .. I mean you look like you have pretty beefy legs.

BTW do you have a weighted leg press machine available? I think that is my second most fav. leg exercise - I get a pretty good pump from those.

I know what time to go to the gym to avoid the crowds. But if I'm running late or something, I do have alternatives. I have a membership at 24 Hour Fitness, and I can go to any location in the area. Thank goodness! icon_lol.gif
