Cardio before/after lifting

When is it recommended to do cardio? I heard you should do cardio before lifting so as to not interfere with the testosterone and muscle growth hormones that increase in your body after lifting and that running after lifting switches your body from anabolic mode to aerobic. I also heard that you should do it after lifting so that you don't use your fuel before lifting. Hmmm...

I burned significantly more fat when I have done my cardio on separate days. One camp says that doing cardio before or after merely depletes the resources in your body to recover from a strength training workout. However, the other side would say that it raises your heart rate and gets you into "fat burning" mode.

Experiment and find out which works best for you.

I go to the gym early in the morning before work, and I find that cardio (treadmill, usually) helps wake me up before I lift weights. If I don't get warmed up first with a run or something, I tend to be sluggish when doing weights.

I don't think there's a 'right' answer - I've known really buff, fit guys that do it both ways.

After, I warm up 5-10 min doing cardio/stretching but for me if I do cardio b4 lifting there is no power left for that. the other way around works

If you have to do both on the same day, the rule of thumb is: if yoúr goal is building muscle, cardio AFTER; if your goal is losing weight, cardio BEFORE.

Makes sense to do what is most important to your goals first when your body and mind are fresh.

Any thoughts on Cardio in the AM and Weights at night? I live close enough to my gym to do this.

Well there are some weight training workouts that I will do cardio before and these are chest and tricepts, back and bicepts and shoulders and forearms. However, with legs I will mostly do it after I have trained. But it makes sense to do a light cardio session before training to warm your body up.

Generally lift first/cardio after if its size you want..
    but
if you hate doin cardio , do it First (cos otherwise youll make excuses after you finish lifting weights and not do cardio at all......yeah you know what Im talking about!)
