We hope to speak later today with Florida friends traveling up the East Coast, who have run right into this storm. Four of them in two cars are driving separately up to New Hampshire for Christmas, where one couple owns a vacation home they'll all be using. And each couple is bringing a dog with them. They should have been in Virginia just before noon today. I see misery & mishap written all over this if the storm follows them up the coast. icon_sad.gif

I'm guessing they would have gotten a hotel or something.

The dogs may be the complication, plus Interstate lodging fills up quickly when bad storms happen, as I've experienced myself. Knowing them, they would have tried to tough it out to the bitter end, and then found everything already booked. We won't phone now when they may have their hands full, but we'll try tonight after we get back from a holiday party with some other gay friends.

The last time we got any really significant snow was like 2003, before that 1995.

Yep approaching a foot her ein South Jersey! Snowing like a mofo now! Last big storm like this was Feb. 2003. This is the Blizzard of 2009! We expect to get 12-16 inches they say. Definitely will be a white Christmas in Philly area as its supposed to remain cold the next week.

Oh well for a change the East Coast from Virginia to New Hampshire is getting a heavy snowstorm rather than the Great Lakes Region. Hey a snowstorm is a lot safer and easier to deal with than a hurricane or a tornado. Just be careful if you have to go anywhere providing there are no emergency bans on travel. Cities like Richmond, Washington DC, and Baltimore will get their first white Christmas in quite sometime. When was the last time these three cities had a white Christmas?

Still snowing and surprised how many idiots are out there now trying to unbury their cars to go somewhere. Don't they know that in cases like this, you supply up on food, wait until the storm ends, wait for the plows to get the major roads, THEN you uncover your car and drive. Otherwise, watch movies or something! icon_wink.gif
