Having been in the dating pool for quite some time, I'd have to agree with him.

My reaction to reading and hearing these words on that youtube video is to think that this person is not mentally stable.

He sounds an awful lot like Jim Jones. Just a little less coherent. And something tells me his son isn't moving to San Francisco to minister....

Seems to me Jimmy Swaggart feels the same way and more than once advocated killing gays (no mention of lesibians, I guess he likes to watch). This guy, like Jimmy Swaggart is obviously mentally unhinged.

I'll contrast that with Billy Graham, whom I have never heard and never read that he make a single comment against gays or lesbians. I've heard several Christian Pastors speak in numerous churches and not once have I heard them demonize gays. Other theologans, such as Dr. Charles Swindoll and Dr. David Jeremiah never have either to my knowledge.

Just like with any other group, Gays and Democrats included, nutjobs are everywhere. You just have to find your truth, filter them out or ignore them.

    Calling Dr Freud:

Could the preacher's son be showing us all a text book example of 'reaction formation' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_formation) ? Maybe a couple of our brothers in SF could check out my theory when the young man arrives. Go forth and multiply !

    Anti-Semitic Comments

In 1994, H. R. Haldeman's diaries revealed that Graham had taken part in conversations speaking of Jewish domination of the media. The allegations were so at odds with Graham's public image that most did not believe his account, and Jewish groups paid little attention. Graham released a statement denying that he talked "publicly or privately about the Jewish people, including conversations with President Nixon, except in the most positive terms." He said, "Those are not my words."

In 2002, however, newly declassified "Richard Nixon tapes" confirmed remarks made by Graham to President Nixon three decades earlier. Captured on the tapes, Graham agreed with Nixon that Jews control the American media, calling it a "stranglehold" during a 1972 conversation with Nixon. "This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain," said Graham, agreeing with Nixon's comments about Jews and their influence in American life. Later, Graham mentions that he has friends in the media who are Jewish, including A. M. Rosenthal, saying they "swarm around me and are friendly to me." But, he tells Nixon, "They don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country." These remarks were considered highly controversial by some Jewish leaders such as Abraham Foxman, who characterized them as anti-Semitic.

When the tapes were publicly released, Graham apologized for his remarks, stating, "lthough I have no memory of the occasion, I deeply regret comments I apparently made ... They do not reflect my views, and I sincerely apologize for any offense caused by the remarks," and "If it wasn't on tape, I would not have believed it. I guess I was trying to please... I went to a meeting with Jewish leaders and I told them I would crawl to them to ask their forgiveness." According to Newsweek magazine, "he shock of the revelation was magnified because of Graham's longtime support of Israel and his refusal to join in calls for conversion of the Jews."

    Anti-Gay Comments

In 1993, Graham said in Columbus, Ohio, "Is AIDS a judgment of
God? I could not say for sure, but I think so." After seeing letters criticizing that comment, Graham later said, "I remember saying it, and I immediately regretted it and almost went back and clarified the statement," and "To say God has judged people with AIDS would be very wrong and very cruel."

How is an alleged anti-Semitic comment, that seems more of an anti-media comment, especially in the context of who was at the meeting where it was said, even relevant to the conversation here, other than a baseless attempted smearing of Billy Graham. I never said he was perfect, I was contrasting him with this kook on the video.

An AIDS comment is not Anti-Gay. We have got to stop thinking that way. There are straight people that suffer from HIV and AIDS as well. This is absolutely no evidence that he was referring to gays or lesbians.

Lou Engle is featured in the film Jesus Camp. It amazes me that parents would trust their kids with someone who manically rocks back and forth and acts more possessed than the people he accuses of having demons. This guy is frightening; and for someone who claims to be able to identify gay demons in others, how is it that he couldn't spot the one in Ted Haggard when he was standing right in front of him?

GOP New Prayer Guru Says Gays Possessed By Demons

And here I thought I was just possessed by Demon Rum. icon_razz.gif

Plus I assumed the real problem for most others in today's economic climate was being REpossessed, not possessed. I think a lot of people right now would prefer a demon to having a deputy at their door serving papers.

I guess the GOP has its own priorities. Demon gays need more attention than a declining GDP, and dying grunts in foreign wars.

How come when god speaks to religious nuts, he always tells them exactly what they already believe ?

And, how come it's always an order to go out and spread hatred ?
