Tasty food should not be eaten?!?! Do you eat like this to look how you do?

If so, I'm thinking of throwing in the towel on ever getting the body I want.

My diet right now is not what it should be, I'll admit. However, I think this guy is way too extreme in several ways.

They always say how important diet is to putting on muscle mass, but I'd be shocked if everyone with great physiques, in America especially, was that clean with their diet and not relying on good genetics or more work output to counter eating some of their more guilty pleasures.

What is your diet like? Do you occasionally cheat/splurge? Do you think that if it tastes good, you shouldn't be eating it? Other thoughts/bits of advice for the townsfolk?

I mainly eat for nutrition, and not necessarily for taste. Simple grilled chicken, with some low-salt seasoning. And rice or some other starch. Occasional veggies. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Protein powders, etc. Nothing fancy.

On the weekends, I do eat for taste. I'll grab a burger or maybe a slice of pizza or whatever when I'm out with friends. But nothing over the top. Everything in moderation.

It's a little ridiculous to deny yourself tasty food. Unless you're competing for sports or bodybuilding, I don't see the need to be anal about nutrition. Just eat the right foods and the right amounts. Study up on nutrition. Read the labels. Know what you're putting in your mouth. And workout hard.

Also, everyone's dietary needs are different. If I were to follow Scooby's nutrition plan, I'd be lightheaded from not eating enough. Or I'd be farting all day from eating all those beans and veggies. icon_lol.gif

Srsly: total crap "if something tastes good spit it out"... idiot.

I suppose if your cooking skills are non existant and you rely solely on fat, sugar and salt for flavour this MIGHT be true, but really his whole first thing about eating food SOLELY as fuel and not as a social event is fucked up.

THOUGH he seems to think that donuts are delicious. I woud rather have plain oatmeal to a donut any time. He needs to talk about re educating your taste buds to dislike unhealthy food (very easy to get 90% sucess on this: I strongly dislike fast food, fries, donuts, candie, milk chocolate etc)

He relies too much on protein powder. He also has nothing on cooking a bulk load of say chicken stew and freezing portions which can be defrosted overnight and microwaved. You can have one or even two meals as more "social" if you wish with a little planning. On the other hand, cooking 6 meals a day is insane and no-one has time for that. Cook some rice, while you do that steam some broccoli and put salmon on top of the broccoli so it cooks without creating too much washing up. Takes 15 mins. Chargrill chicken breasts every few days and eat in sandwiches, or microwave, with rice and veg.

On the good side: excuses don´t wash. With a bit of planning you can do it. Yes, you. No, you don´t get a let out, you can do it too if you plan and make the decision to do it.

I was also bothered by his suggestion of eating dried fruit from cans. I eat fruit a lot and I don't have to go to the store everyday. Strawberries and raspberries taste great and keep for a decent amount of time usually.

Last year I attempted the Body for Life style diet. You were supposed to eat every two to three hours. Every "meal" was fist sized portion protein, fist sized portion good carb. Seems like it could work, but they also said you could take one free day a week to eat whatever. This didn't work for me. Drug addicts in recovery aren't given one day a week to go to town and still consider themselves clean. This guy seems to be on the opposite side of the spectrum. Should I eat bark off trees because once upon a time a caveman did it?

This year, I'm trying to plan something manageable that I can do everyday efficiently and successfully. We'll see what I can find.

I can tell his life story is that of the tall, awkward, gangly white guy with the interesting face and nebbish voice that grew up, made a bunch of sacrifices that worked for him and got him bulged and ripped and decided it can be no other way with other people and they have to know it.

But he's right, for the most part. Just lack of creativity in his food choices.

what you can do is cut out processed foods in order to recalibrate your body. When youre nourishing yourself properly, you dont crave oreos.icon_eek.gif

I don't this guy is out of his mind. I suppose if you truly want to be that way its your choice. Although I think if you want to eat like that to get a better body than I think its wrong. Everyone is different. Eating healthy is important but so is exercising. I know of alot of people who don't eat so strictly and have a much leaner "better" looking body than the guy in this video. So I really think it just depends on you.

While annoying....he makes a point, people do view eating as too much of a social activity rather than a functional activity

    Nice pecs though icon_lol.gif

The old saying. "you are what you eat." is very true. I eat to live. There are too many fat arses alive that live to eat.
I eat no junk food, sodas, fried foods, etc. I will drink alcohol when out socially.
I have followed this person's YouTube clips for a while now. He makes some very good points. The OP may think he is too extreme, but look at his vids. He is very old, yet has a great physique. Obviously it's working for him.
    Cheers,
    Keith

You certainly have to watch what you eat somewhat but I never deprive myself of something I really want. I tend to space out my big cheat meals like pizza to every six weeks. One week its pizza, one week chicken wings, the next week its diner food, etc.

I dont necessarily eat clean all day, I usually throw in something that isnt the healthiest but is the tastiest. Key is to balance. If you are going to pig out later in the day, try to eat really healthy before that time. I tend to eat healthier during the week leaving the weekends open. But really depriving yourself and being so strict will either cause you to totally jump off your healthy eating or will make you the most miserable person in the world to be around.

    So it worked for him.

Will it work for you? Maybe. Depends if your habits and genetics match his.

Is it what I've done? Fuck no. I can make healthy meals that taste good and I enjoy eating without torturing myself.

The trick of looking good is not a magic bullet handed out by anyone (even me). It's finding the balance that works for YOUR body. Our genetics are different, our gut fauna are different (and can affect energy extraction by up to 20%), and our brown fat reserves are different. And that's all the things we can't affect before things like locale, habits, and activities.

I eat pretty healthy, but I use sugar, from time to time I have a cookie, etc. It works for me. I have a friend who ate WAY more carefully than I did and ran marathons and still was "overweight" according to the scales.

    Bodies are different.

No, it doesn´t. In fact if you eat like that your stomach shrinks. Diet, diet, diet, but it has to be long term sustainable: faddy short term diets do more harm than good. I am in the process of relearning how to eat: smaller, more often, less fat and simple carbs. (and I also didn´t like the reliance on dried fruit: and his excuses about shopping don´t cut it: you can go every week and buy apples, oranges and bananas and they keep well, esp in the fridge. Carrots and onions, squash keep for ever,

Well, I ate something similar to that (didn't take protein shakes as much, in the morn and after workout). And a shrunken stomach is a good thing for people wanting to lose weight, no? Although I was doing it to gain weight. Can't get past 63kg body limit.

Friends?? He doesn't have friends--friends are a social aspect, not a bodily function so you don't need them. Right?

What kind of job requires you to sit at a computer from 5h30 in the morning, wearing just jeans and a fedora?
