I usually bring the new year in praying and giving thanks to the universe for my blessings....This year, my buddies are asking me to join them for the festivites and paint this town red....
Not sure what i'll do just yet...

You know, if you dated slightly older guys, you wouldn't have to wait for their balls to drop.

My friends and I leave New Year's Eve partying to the folks from Pitchfork or Hoehandle. Let them wear their VFW or Masonic badges, get stinking drunk in their loud dacron polyester jackets and wild, cheap ties, while they blow their noise makers and grab every woman they see to steal a kiss. Rubber chicken dinners, warm champagne, noise and a bunch of hicks in The City for their big night out. Waiters cringe at having to work that night and get stiffed by some of these swell people - who think 10% is a big tip.

Better to stay with your friends and have fun in your own homes or clubs on that night, than to be out with so many Teddy Tourists out clogging our cities and driving drunk.

Going to the Hail the New Year program at Easton Mountain north of Albany, New York. I was there last year and I can imagine any other way to spend New Year's now. I'm also teaching a workshop during the weekend, so that should be great.

Normally would be a three day weekend, but this time around, I will be asleep before midnight because I have to work the 1st because a brand new client has requested in the contract that we as their health and welfare benefits administrator to start off the new year being open the whole first weekend in 2010. So I will be working New Years Day and the day after. At least the day after will be time and a half. No holiday pay since I am only a contract employee at the moment. Could be worse. I could be unemployed.

I will be at church like every year. I enjoy the service, and it is nice not to have to deal with the wild drunkards. I will probably head downtown after the service, but not to get hammered. I have never been drunk on New Year's, which in my opinion, is overrated. Everything is too damn expensive, and it is always let down (according to my friends).

First I didn't want to do anything. Now I'm making plans to go to Rio de Janiero. Anyone who has ever been there for New Years know how great it can be............unless it rains.

I did it once years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I also swore I would never do it again. But I heard that it is greatly cleaned up and organized now so you guys will probably have a great time.

I hope so - you still can't leave to go to the bathroom...which is the worst ever. I don't know - I hope it's fun...there's something AMAZING about counting backwards from 10 with a million other people. ;)

Probably out at a club with the bf and some friends to do the countdown - after that, go home and sleep/cuddle. 2010 will be a better year for everyone. icon_cool.gif
