Tattoo(s) on the inside bicep or the tricep?

So I thought it would be fun to do something completely unexpected of me and get a tattoo (or two) for new years. I think just a hint of a tattoo peeking out of a guy's shirt is sexy, so I was thinking something like a black/red star on each arm. Is that totally lame?

Also, if it isn't... where should I put them? On the inside of the bicep (see new pics in my profile) or on the back of the tricep?

Thanks for the advice, team icon_smile.gif

    Buddy:

I got my last Tattoo on the inside of my bi and I'm telling you, it hurt like a mother. (you can see it in my profile) I love it there but out of my 5 tatts, this was the most painful. I had my nipples pierced the day before. They didn't bleed when I got them pierced, but my left one was bleeding when I left with the tattoo because of how much the entire area tensed up during the tattooing process.

That being said... I love the tatt and would do it again.

You're so hot...hmmm where to put it. I'm lookin at your inner arm and thinkin it would be a good spot, but stars, no. Don't do stars, everyone does that and it's sorta lame. I think a black dragon on your inner arm would be real sexy. Dragons are always sexy on a guy.

I remember this guy i knew once had a japanese flaming demon head on his right pec. It was so hot. LOL, don't know if that is a place you ever thought about, but i'm picturing a black star on your chest and it's lookin hot to me.

I always loved The Quantum Ranger, if i got a tat, I 'd get the flaming arrow he has on his chest put somewhere.

How long did it hurt for? Just curious icon_smile.gif I can, hopefully, handle it. Guess I gotta ball up...

So no star, eh? Hmm... other thoughts?

A star would be OK if it has significance to you, but if it doesn't, then no way...and def not both arms. I think inside the bi is very sexy.

Oh, and it really only hurts while the tat is being done. It is only mildly sore afterwards, in my experience.

I need to think about what tattoo to get, but I always wanted it on my shoulder or on my calf.

I am also looking to get my next tat on the inside of my arm. I have a half sleeve on the outside of my one arm and on half of my upper back.

I have an old tatto on my hip that I want redone, but getting a new one on my arm is a priority. I think I want an old 40's style ray gun. But am not sure if it would look better on the inside of my upper or lower arm.

You will have to get yours first to tell me how much it hurt.

Good Luck, I am sure it will look hot no matter where you get it.

DJ, I think the ray gun would look better on your forearm. Just in case you wanted my input. icon_biggrin.gif

That underside of the arm is about the most painful place on the body to get tattooed. Witness all the incomplete rings of barbed wire one sees around. Back in the military, inside bicep tats were very popular because they demonstrated how tough and hard core you were...

I have a band around my left upper arm and yeah, it did start to get a little tender as the needles worked their way around the inside. By the time it was finished, I was kinda glad the design I chose didn't wrap all the way around.

I also have a tattoo running down the back of my right upper arm (you can just barely see it in my main pic), and that one was fairly painless, all things considered.

As far as what you get tattooed on you...if you're going to get the tattoo just for the hotness factor, keep in mind trends (tribal bands, starts, etc.) fade. If you're going for something because it's personally significant to you, though, what the rest of us think of the design is irrelevant. icon_wink.gif

The top part of your shoulder is also quite painful. I think I might go with the forearm. Always a risk at how many tattoos are acceptable at work. But who cares.

as far as a design, think of elements that you want with you. I ended up totally covering up an old tribal tattoo I got tired of. I told my artist I wanted something aquatic, with stars and a little gay flair.

Look at some graphic design books and other inspirations for your art. Find an artist you like and work with them to create your design. Personally I would take your time and make sure you feel good about your whole experience. The actual tattooing is just the final stage.

Does anybody ever test-drive these things, for instance by having them painted on for a few days?

Before I got my back tattoo, I'd had the design painted on me. It lasted several days and gave me a chance to see if I liked it. I'd definitely recommend doing that. Sometimes--in the heat of the moment--you can convince yourself that you'll like it but then have second thoughts when it's too late. At least giving it a few days for a trial run will help you make a more informed decision.

Well, if I ever decide to get one, I will be on the inside of my bicep/tricep. I love seeing one there on a guy. Used to be one of the more uncommon spots too which I like but that sounds like it might be changing.

Tatts are awesome. I got mine not too long ago. I had it done around on my stomach but before I got it inked on I had it painted on so I could see if I wanted it. It'sstillnot done since I have to get it shaded it in but it looks nice.

My suggestion would be to find one you feel comfortable with and then give it a test drive before you actually do the deed.

Where does someone go to get a feaux-tattoo painted on? The tattoo parlor? Did you use Henna or something?

In my case, the tattoo artist did it.

The pain went away pretty quickly... It's a little tender after the tattoo is complete but not even enough to take an Advil.

It was just the while I was getting it that it hurt like hell.

The one on my lower back however was this dull erotic pain and I actually got an erection while I was getting it done. I guess that is my g spot.

btw... I have a pic of my inside Bi tattoo on my profile.

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. I'll see if I can figure it out for ya. Ironically, as soon as I posted this original post, yahoo had this article up... someone up there is trying to say something to me.

I wouldn't give up on the idea of getting a tattoo or even the idea of getting stars. Just give it lots of thought and just don't walk into a tattoo parlor and fall in love with a cool piece of flash on the wall. I did and now I'm looking to design something to cover them up.

Almost every good tattoo shop has a website and online portfolios for every artist they employ. Take some time and find someone who's work really resonates with you. Present them with your ideas and they can work with you to design something that is unique and personal to you rather than something 500 other guys are wearing on their arm. Here in Chicago you have a ton of great artists to choose from.

I think that as long as you know that whatever you choose to put on your body is going to be there forever, it's no big deal. But then again, each of my tattoo's have meaning to them and is symbolic of an event in my life. I wouldn't however ever put a name on my body or a picture of my partner/wife/husband on me. It almost seems like it dooms your relationship.
