I cant hardly believe it. A Catholic, macho and conservative country like Mexico allowing this . When I was a student in the US, those Mexican friend and Latino are some of the most anti gay people I know. Sure hope, this trend will continue. I am so happy for those gay folk in Mexico City.

Mexico is desperately trying to clear an image problem with human rights against its own people! I know several mexican gay couples who had expressed to me just that!! For now I prefer Spain for symbolical purposes, because until Gay Marriage is not legal in the USA there is no sense for me to celebrate!

(Gay, Transplanted)Mexican nationals have always made for some of the gayest dudes out there. Just sayin'. I realize that this is very subjective, and that is just fine, it's just what I've come to see as I live and work in Texas. So much so, that I've formed an Educatedicon_wink.gifGuess as to why...

I don't know how it Normally is in Mexico for gays, but the "stigma" is it's full of machismo, and likely that gays are afraid to come out to their proud macho fathers. Rather than just flee the home or city, as many Americans no doubt do, Mexicans sometimes leave the country to pursue a more openly gay lifestyle, and may even send pics of them and their "girl" back home to appease the family mantle.

Adversely, it is thought that a mother always knows, and that Mexican families are Very Tight... Put the two together, and you probably have a higher number of boys in Mexico, who's father shunned their nelly ways, coming out to their mothers (or aunts or sisters) and being accepted. Then, they get to go "chopping for choos" together.

Also, on the machismo tip, I have heard from a trusted source that it can be considered just as Macho for a "straight" Mexican man to fuck a dude in the the butt! So you kinda have an Open subculture of Bisexual Mexicans fuckin' whatever they can, which I've always considered to be a little slutty and opportunistic, but hey, lo que quieras. Maybe rates of disease or divorce (due to infidelity) have finally sparked a change of heart for those Mexican leaders having to find solutions to these (somewhat) avoidable problems. Or maybe, they just had to marry their long-time secret sancho.

Either way it crumbles, I think they just really let loose and feel accepted here in the states, especially in liberal-ass Austin. I'm talkin' glittered eyelids and fur vests and shit, which is totally cool with me. They'll probably change it up anyway when they realize that they look like Adam Lambert, and nobody respects him. This world is too judgmental already to exclude a part of the family.

!Viva Mexico City! Indeed though. I was glad, and Shockedicon_eek.gif to hear it, but now I will definitely be planning a visit. Me, and my Mexican-ass Macho boyfriend.

For now, it's back to touching myself while watching Carriers. How come no one told me about Chris Pine?? !Ay, Muchacho!icon_twisted.gif

I agree with much of what you said, but hate like the one that killed Mattew Shepeard, I have not seen in Mexico... I'm not saying it hasn't happend. Remenber the horrible signs oponents took to his funeral.. that is hate!!!!

it seems though that the Catholic church is ever interfering and stoking persecution.
