it's actually not a muscle... it's a ligment... the Inguinal Ligament to be precise....it's defenition depends on the musculature of your abdomen and your body fat.. less fat the more it shows... the more muscular your abdomen the more likely it is to show... it might also be contributal to the size of the spermatic chord found beneath the ligament... I'm sure someone else will post something more informative.. sorry I can't be of more help.. I would deffinately recomend more abdominal excercise if you want to see it.

I think you're referring to the muscles most commonly called the Apollo's belt, but I've also heard it called Hercules' Girdle. I think that leg raising exercises help, but body fat and definition play a big role also.

Those sexy lines you refer to are formed by a combination of building the hip flexor muscles and the lower abdominals. The rectus femoris is the middle quadricep that attaches to the hip and helps to do leg raises. Combine building these muscles with lowering your body fat percentage to make it pop! Good Luck!

acrojock is exactly right...its the inguinal ligament...body fat reduction is the best way to enhance its visibility

I just call it the "greek muscle". All the great classical Greek statues make it prominent.

Well, since I doubt I'll be able to commit "Inguinal Ligament" to memory, I like Chungo's "Cum Gutters," though I have been calling them Hip Flexors.

    Cum gutters.... lol
    That's a keeper I like that one
I've always known them as Da Vinci lines and they are the ends of the ab muscles that become ligamentous and then go down to insert into the pelvis
since they are more ligament than muscle
you can't really exercise them but you can lose some body fat to make them more visible

In the backwoods where I come from we call that there the Jesus Muscle...Too much time spent staring at crucifixion pics I guess.

"Jesus, please don't make me gay. Oh, and, great abs, BTW."

Even though we call it the inguinal ligament, its actually more of the free boarder of the aponeurosis of the anterior abdominal wall (that is, it sorta hangs with no lower attachment). On specimens its actually difficult to identify unless its been prosected out.

So it runs from the ASIS to the pubic tubercle; formed by the external abdominal oblique aponeurosis and is continuous with the fascia lata.

I'm as fascinated by the relatively sudden appearance of this part of guys anatomy. 10 years ago, models had abs, but not the 'V' formation. Now, everyone's got it going on. What's changed? Is it the work-outs, diet, does anyone know?

Per the Urban Dictionary: The indentation of male hips made visible by large abdominal muscles. They are called "penis hips" in that they tend to point directly to the penis. aka "Groin Dip", "G.I. Joe Muscle", "Inguinal Crease", "Jesus Crease", "Devil's Horns", and "Thunder Road"

...also called "Adonis Belt" or "Apollo's Belt"

I call it "that god-awful f**king thing that's totally f**ked on me." My RMT says that everything around my hips is tighter than a child-bride's sphincter on her wedding day icon_sad.gif
