When profiling obviously gay stars and celebrities
When or is it appropriate to state the fact that this person is a gay man or a gay woman?

Or is glossing over that fact just a concession to the Str8 audience or reader
so that "they" feel more comfortable

I say this because I recently read an article
Who Doesn't Know Tim Gunn is Gay
    http://www.afterelton.com/people/2009/9/timgunnusa

Where they talk about a USA Today and a Times profile on him where there's no mention of Tim being gay
... and before you say it .... He Is

another thing I noticed was the Gay Washed ad campaign for Tom Ford's Movie a single man
If you saw the trailer you'd have thought it was a romantic chick flick with a romance btw Colin Firth and Julianne Moore

I'm confused. Don't we want homosexuality to be mainstreamed and normalized?

"The oldest child began crying that her parents were still in the house," Lassally, who prefers the company of men to women, said.

Lassally suffered burns covering over 70 percent of his body and sustained injuries leaving him unable to work or have anal intercourse with men for about two months. Doctors describe his condition as stable but homosexual.

Lassally is modest in the face of so many tributes: "I've always believed that one [homosexual] really can make a difference."

I think that, when necessary (Articles about who they are dating, etc), it should be included. Otherwise there is no reason to state a celebrity's sexual orientation. People will never be comfortable looking past it if the media can't.
