Help me make up a new party game. Drinking game meets Truth or Dare meets Strip Poker.

So, I LOVE board games and anything gamey. There's this new dice game we've been playing for Christmas where you pass around money that got me inspired. I'd like to make the stakes more interesting, but in a fun way.

So, I want to make a game where you drink a bit (maybe too much), reveal some stories (maybe too much) and reveal a little skin (or maybe a lot). I've seen "adult" games marketed with similar themes, but they tend to lack class (not that this will have that in spades or anything) and they lack the home-grown feel of something like Truth or Dare.

Here's my idea in broad strokes, but I'd like help and refinement from the game-lovers around here:

The game's called DTS for Drink, Talk, Strip. The game involves two dice that each player takes a turn rolling. Based on the roll, the player will either take a drink, share a secret or take off an article of clothing. The game should be balanced so that drinking happens most (as long as it's beer), talking second-most and stripping least often. The reason for this order is that booze would loosen people up. Sharing secrets and losing clothes are both ways of getting a little more vulnerable (always a good purpose for games), but clothes don't last that long.

The odds of different dice outcomes would be used to figure out what happens most and least often. If you assigned based on what the numbers add up to, combos adding up to 7 are most common, 6 & 5 next most common and down from there. Those could be used for "Take a Drink." The lower odd combinations could be used for Talk and Take Something Off. I was thinking the interesting twist could come when rolling Snake Eyes or another significant pair where the roller gets to pick another person to Drink, Talk or Strip.

Choosing how the Talk part works was the other interesting question. In Truth or Dare, asking questions for Truth comes up in-game. I'm thinking for this one, players could write down questions beforehand on pieces of paper and throw them in a hat. When the player rolled Talk, they would then have to pull a random question from the hat. This could keep things moving and keep it interesting since you don't know who will get what question.

I'm not totally sure of how the game ends. Either the last one not naked (or down to boxers if you're trying to make the game milder) could be the winner or there could be some other winning condition set. Also, is a player out once they lose their clothes? What if they can't drink anymore before they hit that point? I think this game would take some testing, but would be fun once refined. What do you guys think? I hope this isn't too complicated.

I had to smile at your game. I haven't played one since college, but there are fond memories there.

One option for keeping the fully unclothed in the game longer - and probably making the game must more risqué - is for people to also write down a couple of dares. If, after losing all your clothes, you choose to stay in the game, and on your turn you roll a result that would mean removing an article of clothing, you have to draw and accept one of the dares.

Ah. Drypin, dares is a good idea. What kind of dares would you include? The good thing about that option is that each group would adjust what's an acceptable or too far out dare. Dares following losing all your clothes would basically mean ever dare is "I dare you to do this thing...naked." Could be really funny and I think this is where the importance of booze would show up. icon_lol.gif

Lostboy, I think dares could replace alcohol for those who don't like drinking games, like mentioned above. It also starts with a D and would fit the spirit of the game. Might just have to adjust the rules for what comes up the most. For that game, I would just make everything even odds.

Oh, GreenHam, you don't want to know the true answer to that. icon_evil.gif

But I might say that, if the game was just a prelude to getting a sex party on its feet, then the dares would get increasingly more physical.

If the game was just a chance to get people splitting their sides in laughter, then the dares would get increasingly sillier.

I say increasingly, because I would probably ask each participate to write down three dares: one that is mildly easy, not too embarrassing, potentially offensive or awkward; one that trumps it in difficulty, outrageousness or awkwardness, and a last one which someone can pretend to regret having to do, or which is so complicated that the attempt is likely to go awry under the influence of alcohol. (reminding participants that no one is meant to get hurt in the game).

All the lesbians love Wizard Sticks.... It's sure to make ANY party the talk of the community!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_sticks

You basically create a staff out of the empty beer cans you drink. Every 3rd level of wizardry, you fight a BOSS (Shot, or double shot). When your Wizard Stick is taller than yourself, you are a white wizard...

LOL. I think I played that gay drinking game for Christmas, Lostboy.

Wizard Sticks looks hilarious (and geeky). Looks really good for a camping trip where you'll be finishing off a lot of cans anyway.

I think that'd be a good approach to dares. I'm more interested in silly, fun times, but I think that's the good part of a game that can adapt to house rules or the mood of the crowd. I'm still wondering about how you "win" or what incentivises people to go through with dares. Alcohol and peer pressure are nudges, but they would still have to be in the game where they could still win. Though, still watching other people answer questions, strip and do dares is a good incentive too.

I'll have to do some test games. Anyone else want to try a game with their friends once we have a simpler version of the rules?
