Do you find dating websites like gay.com and what not to be a bad thing? I kind of want to get an account and look for friends, but does anyone really go on there just to make friends?

Yes, most of my gay friends I first met in the statewide WI room on gay.com. A lot of them live only a few miles from me, so we do stuff together.

I've met some really amazing firends and a bf on gay.com. There are definitely some good guys looking for more than one night stands. But, for every great guy, it seems there are 100 creeps and nasty trolls.

It seems to me that the creeps are those who can hide behind the internet. Those who are serious about forming real personal friendships--not just online, but in the flesh, were not creeps.

I tried Plenty of Fish, and got nothing. Same thing with FindFred. The only guys who seem to respond to my ad, are the creepy crazy ones. Hmmmm, what does that say about me?icon_confused.gif

There will always be undesirables in most online dating/chatting services. Gay.com is one the largest, thus will by default likely contain the most pervs. Personally, I have dated a couple of guys I have met on gay.com. Both were truly good guys. It's not impossible, just takes patience and of course a little bit of wit to weed out "The Disturbed Ones".

Although, I will go on record as saying I have already had more comfortable and enjoyable conversations with guys here at RJ than I have at probably any other social networking site. I definitely was not expecting such, but thought it was worth the try. I'm glad I did. There is a more relaxed atmosphere here where I can chat with guys who are in a relationship and maybe even make a ::gasp:: friend!

As far as relationship possibilities go, it's just safer to never put major stock into getting that from any site. But there will always be the "ya never know" factor.
