I don't think I have ever met a gay person that does not absolutely adore Britney Spears. Am I the only gay person that could care less about her and her music? Why is every gay person so obsessed with her?

never liked her. I guess its the same way gay people obsess about Madonna. I guess its generational although Britney really is nowhere the businesswoman and talent that Madonna is. Britney is this generations Madonna. I think the difference is that 20 years ago media coverage wasnt this intense, you didnt know every bowel movement the a big star was taking like you do now.

People would think its odd I obsess over college sports or my fantasy baseball team..lol

It's clear you need to widen your circle of acquaintance.

I like some of her music when the songs suit her helium voice. I'm not a fan of her as a person or as a musician, and I certainly am not obsessed with her.

I have no obsession with Britney Spears and for that matter, no obsession with Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce, or Celine. Give me Siouxsie, Alison Goldfrapp, Bjork, or Karen Dreijer Anderson any day.

Bleh. I can't stand her. She sounds like a muppet when she caterwauls. I actually flipped her off at Splash in NYC a couple of years ago, when her and her camera crew suddenly popped in and started pushing people around. I thought she was a drag queen, in my defense. She had a LOT of makeup on...

Okay, I admit I like a few of her songs and have even downloaded a few but I don't absolutely adore her. I think a lot of gay guys like to dance so they're drawn to the people who make dance music, i.e. Cher, Britney, Lady Gaga, etc.

Plus some of her songs are catchy "crack music" that I like even though I know it's bad for me.

Never liked her music. Though her appearance on one of South Park episodes was really amazing. That was the day when I became a fan of SP.

I've found myself accidentally enjoying her music on occasion. I then feel great shame and confusion. Most of the time I just want to kick her in her saggy beaver.

adore and obsessed are two very strong words. Do I like Britney, sure. She makes a catchy pop song. Do I adore her? Ehh not so much.

It's pop, short for popular, she is just that. She has been consistent enough to keep switching things up just enough so there is something new. I say good for her!

I like some of her music, most of what I like is recent. Earlier on in her career I used to think she was a horrible dancer with no real groove. I probably have about 10 BS tracks in my ipod...not sure if it is her really that I am responding to or the writers and producers of her music. Find a good dj to give her sound a mix, and usually I will download it.

Of course, with all the celebrities with "stage mothers" and fathers, she never has really had a normal life. I think that might be hard for a lot of famous people, and I wish her all the best.

I win. I knew their were gay people out there that did not like her besides me. I just wanted to make sure. Also you take topics to seriously by saying i generalize to much. So at least there is a few gay people out there that do not like britney besides me.

Perhaps you should be more careful what you post around here. Making it less dramatic would be welcomed. People are entitled to their opinions and also their preferences. If there are people like Chris Crocker obsessed with her, then so be it. We need those people to make us look sane.

Just the right of passage I guess...DIANA ROSS, then DONNA SUMMERS, then CHER, then MADONNA, then BRITNEY, then BEYONCE, and I believe the current queen of queens in gayworld is LADY GAGA

I've always felt out of touch with the pop culture that is allegedly "gay." I don't care for Britney, Madonna, Cher, Celine Dion or any of the so-called divas. Has anybody outside of gay men or Australians even heard of Kylie Minogue? Some of these women have great voices but they bludgeon songs to death with it, wielding their voices with the subtlety of sledgehammers. Bob Dylan is not a gifted singer, but he is able to communicate so much more with his voice. And I don't like techno club music in general. I want to hear musicians play. (I also can't stand "Grey's Anatomy.") I really do prefer artists, people who use their music to communicate real ideas to the audience. Ms. Spears is the antithesis of this idea. I think Madge attempts artistry but doesn't pull it off. Honestly, I've never understood why punk rock isn't the music of choice in the gay community.

I think a lot of these things are not really a matter of gay or not, but a generational thing. My straight niece loved Britanny like a lot of young girls did.

Other generations had their favorites. As far as what "most gay people", if there really is such a thing, like -- maybe it is what plays at clubs and bars or something. There are people that market themselves towards gays in different ways.

She is the epitome of trailer trash in Louisiana. Her biggest talent is spreading her legs. And, BTW, I'm from Louisiana and she repulses me.

I love how this turns into a bashing thread to make people feel better about themselves. It's a generalization to assume all gay people love Britney. I enjoy her music.

Personally, whether or not I like an artist I'm not going to go around talking about their "saggy beavers" or how I'd like to punch them in the face. Grow up.

Never liked her, and the last time she was down in Oz, she lip synced, and frumpy moved around an the stage, and charged people a shitload for this. I'm sure people won't rush to see her next; if there is a next time.

But many gay people have an affinity for tragic figures such as Monro, Garland, Davis, and so on, and why?
