Hey, I want to get a good peice of exercise equpiment for losing a little weight and maybe some slight muscle toning.

Now my mum used to have a lateral thigh trainer, and I never really used it aot, but it was really good. I can remember after 30 mins on it, feeling worked out and I did see my legs toning up.

Only thing was, is it basically broke or make a terrible noise after a while which was annoying, but enough for me to stop using it. I couldn't stand it.

Anyway, Im thinking of getting something like an exercise bike, or something like that to boost my activity, as all I do is just sit around watching TV all day.

Im just wondering if anyone has an recommendations, can be anything.

    Thanks

Get a real bike. Watching TV on an exercise bike isn't much of a lifestyle change.

Hmmm...an exercise mat so you can do sit-ups and push-ups in front of the television; a treadmill or an elliptical machine so you can do cardio (or a good pair of running shoes so you can jog around the neighborhood). And lots of motivation to get out-of-doors and do something active.

    Good luck!

    Something like this: http://www.nordictrack.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product2_12401_10301_124253_-1_19053

Dont you have free community gyms that you can go to and have all the equipment you need?

Yeah, I have a treadmill in the house when it's too cold, snowy, icy, or raining to run out-of-doors. It's not as much fun (I call it the dreadmill) but at least it gets the trick done!

Yeah, Its very icy here and its hard to walk the dogs let alone run outside at the moment.

Would it be good to get something like the orbitrek elite? They seem fun and easy and they are only like £150. Obv not going to be gym level but better than sitting around.

Absolutely. Anything that keeps you moving is good. You want something that can keep challenging you though, so if it has different levels of difficulty, that's the best choice. If it's too easy, you aren't getting much benefit.

This is lowtech. Try doing 50 burpees and work your way to 100.

plyometrics jump your heart rate way up, increase strength and you can adjust them to your fitness level. They're mostly leg workouts though.

a set of dumbbells could prove useful. but good ones are pricey.

of all indoor cardio equipment i've used, the treadmill has always been the least boring . I use the bikes at my gym because i'm a cyclist but i alternate : 20 minutes on one, 20" on the other etc. because i find the bikes boring.

    ah, and check that thread:
