Anybody have any marathons (or any race for that matter) that they are planning for? I'm going to Birmingham AL in mid-February and still looking for an April-May race.

Oakland Half in March, Kaiser Half in February, SF Full in July, Santa cruz Tri in Oct. If life plays out the way I want, I'm rewarding myself with a Full Ironman in Fall

I am running a quarter 10k on 31 January, a charity run to promote love for nature. A night run 7.7k in the capital on Feb and a 5k in a neighbouring country in March. It no point writing the name of run the since I dont think anyone here will ever heard of it.

Thinking about doing this one myself. Did undergrad in the area, and sure can vouch for the flat course. Think it is probably one of the fastest ones out there.

A good friend of mine ran the Champaign half earlier this year. He blew away his PR with no real change to his training.

I'm just trying to imagine where around C-U the course goes that doesn't completely interrupt the entire area. (unless they just have you run to Rantoul & back! icon_biggrin.gif

And don't forget the Bolder Boulder over Memorial Day Weekend. Incredibly large number of people well organized with a great Memorial Day Ceremony on Folsom Field.

The Ottawa Marathon is on May 30th. The website is here: http://www.ncm.ca/

I know you're not in Canada, but it's a great race and many people come from other countries to do it. Ottawa is a beautiful city and the race route passes all the sights - Parliament Buildings, the canal, etc. I'm signed up for it already!

That is definitely one I do want to do. I am shooting for 50 states and 10 provinces by the time I am 40, and Ottawa is on the list. Any other '50 staters' here? Any other feedback, good or bad, from other races around North America and beyond?

    Hey, can cyclists play?

Tour de Palm Springs on February 13, 2010:

Breakaway Ride presented by Specialized on April 11, 2010:

The Breakaway Ride will be very cool because we get to ride Stage 8 of the Amgen Tour of California a month before Lance and those 'other guys' do. And it raises money to fight cancer! icon_biggrin.gif

Love to hear from cyclists! Sounds like an awesome experience. I watched part of the Tour of Missouri this year, the ability of those athletes is amazing. .

i'm doing the half marathon in Ottawa in 2010.
full marathons demand to much preparation time wise. and i have too many other interests .
so the 1/2 it is. icon_smile.gif
it's a lovely circuit, along a canal, not much elevation ( mainly overpasses ).
They say it's the perfect "beginner" marathon circuit.
    Montreal has more hills.
And Quebec City ( Marathon des deux rives) is quite hilly but also beautiful.

I'm hoping to run the Cox Marathon in Rhode Island May 2. Already off to a bad start with training, as the holidays distracted me too much!

Re SFM in July -- I left a note on the other thread -- great run, but do some hill work or live to regret it.

Just completed my third of the year: Death Valley Trail, Legg Lake Ultra, and L.A. Prob next is Palos Verde and Gay Games in Cologne, then Santa Clarita, Long Beach, and ???. ~20 states down, 30 to go.

Go! St Louis is this weekend. I ran that race a couple years ago and enjoyed it. Ran in Cape May, NJ a couple weeks ago and it was okay albeit windy. Small race. Signed up for Vermont which is Memorial Day weekend. Focus will be Leadville 100 at the end of August.

San Francisco Marathon... every year for the past 8.
Only death or dismemberment could keep me from it.

If I get my promotion... *when* I get my promotion I'm going to register for a 1/2 and Full Ironman (1/2 this year, full next year).

I'm sure there will be about six 1/2 marathons, I just ran the Oakland 1/2 for fun two weeks ago.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE race day!! There is NOTHING like it... *sigh*

Just did St Louis, I really enjoyed it and it has a beautiful course, but damn it was hot! I'm registered for SF marathon, but I'm so burned out on running right now, not for sure if I'm going to do it. STL was my 7th marathon in 16 months, too much! I need a break before I really injure myself or mentally burn out.

I am trainnig for North Downs Run, UK
The North Downs Run is a spectacular multi-terrain race of around
30 kilometres over the beautiful North Downs in Kent.

The start and finish , on the south bank of the Thames, and the course passes through some of the beautiful scenery of the North Downs. The course is mainly off road in very scenic surroundings.

The 2010 edition of the North Downs Run will be held on June 20th.
