There had better be some gladiators making out, or this series will be behind the times. icon_wink.gif

You betcha stud. It's 2010! Time for some musclemen to be groping and massaging and kissing dag-namit. It's all about the full development of the characters. I don't want to see these men make out with women, who will then bitch and gripe about them going off to be SPARTANS. I want to see the SPARTANS reward each other with some muscle to muscle grinding.

Yo man, like, it's about TIME. icon_lol.gif

I remember reading about this a few months ago. Have to see it because it looks awesomely violent, fun, and gladiators are always cool.. Then I saw Lucy Lawless was supposed to have a few nude scenes, and I always thought she was hot, so that's a huge bonus icon_biggrin.gif

As far as the male on male action.. With all of the new things they've discovered about the ancient world and sex.. It will be interesting to see if they actually get it all right, how men of that time viewed intimacy/sex with other dudes..

But I want to see some bloody awesome fights dammit! icon_twisted.gif

I wish Hollywood would come up with something a little less predictable. Whatever happened to originality? It doesn't necessarily have to be fresh IP, but something that's intellectually stimulating would be nice. icon_confused.gif

By complete ACCIDENT I ran into a clip of the show and yes I want to see it. I guess I'm going to come into it with no expectations so as not to be disappointed. That "gladiator camp" looks kinda cool. icon_wink.gif

But what I don't understand is (and I'm FAR from an expert) they said train more and eat less. Isn't eating more, smaller meals or healthy snacks, supposed to help keep the metabolism going to make one lean.???? Unless their 'train more eat less' is a cheat sheet for FAST hollywood lean.

So any comments or suggestions on that would beneficial. Thanks. Oh yeah can't wait to see it but with school and work I'll have to catch episodes online.

saw it tonight and it did not disappoint. Blood, sand, sex, violence, blood, lots of gore. Not for the squeamish or those who dont like lots of female breasts.

Eye candy was there too and it will increase as it the episode go on. I think next week we may get a peak at Manu Bennett's goodies, he plays a gladiator named Crixus at the training camp.

    Cant wait for next week.

Did anyone else see it? I haven't yet, but hoping to catch a replay.

BTW, Men's Health has a special Spartacus workout program and they have a contest running for a trip to New Zealand to appear in an episode.

    More info at http://www.menshealth.com/spartacus/workouts/

Haven't seen any "specifics" on the diet that goes along with the training regimen but "train more, eat less"......not necessarily a good axiom (of course it all depends on what they mean by eat less. They may mean eat less food but still eat frequently, which if they are training 4 hours a day, they HAVE to eat at least twice in that period of time). I noticed most of the guys in the video aren't extremely muscular, there seemed to be a few that are somewhat beefy but nothing like Kevin Sorbo as Hercules. The guys that look athletic were probably athletic before this so this type of training might be tough for them because it's not what they are used to (me either, I'd probably barf after 30 minutes!!! LOL!) but if gaining lean muscle is your goal and you aren't trying to get in shape in six or eight weeks prior stepping in front of a camera, WHAT you eat is far more important that HOW OFTEN you eat! And the camera does literally add pounds to you so these guys are going to be lean to the point of being on the thin side and one camera, they will look almost godly! LOL!

I saw the first episode, and wasn't impressed. Too obviously computer generated backgrounds, not much more than soap-opera story & acting combined with digital special effects & faux spectacle, the explosions of blood entirely over the top and unrealistic. The gladiator getting both his legs sliced off cleanly at the thighs with just 2 quick blows from a Roman-era sword was positively laughable.

It reminded me of the bloody excesses of film director Sam Peckinpah in the 1960s, which Monty Python satirized in this TV skit, along with pretentious film critics:

4 Hours a Day of strength training and cardio...EAS Chemical Shakes...

    Sounds unhealthy to me!

    But, damn they look good.

Men's Health Magazine is having a contest for the guy who can change the most with respect to physique using the "Spartacus" workout (free online). The prize is a walk-on role on the show.

Watched it Friday. Guys were hot, action was good, acting was decent, blood spatttering was cartoonish. I watch several minutes of it on the STARZ webiste, so I think you can see the whole thing here.

I saw the first two episodes a week or two ago. Very "graphic novel/300" in approach. Gory and cartoonish. Gay stuff in episode 4. It looks entertaining and the some of the guys are pretty hot.
The gay guy is the gladiator with the long, sort of 'dreadlock' type of hair. I don't remember his name.

The show looks definitely entertaining based on the first two episodes.
