    1. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
    Clinton.

    2. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him.
A bad guy when Bush's Daddy made war on him
A good guy when Cheney did business with him and
A bad guy when Boy Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

    3. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade
with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of International harmony.

    4. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all of mankind
    without regulation.

    5. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches while slashing Veterans' benefits and combat pay.

    6. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

    7. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing
health care to all Americans is socialism.

    8. HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests of the public
    at heart.

    9. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
Creationism should be taught in schools.

10 A President lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable
    offense

    11. A President lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands
    die is solid defense policy.

    Actually that is correct.

"If you think about it, FedEx and UPS are doin' just fine. It's the Post Office that's always having problems."
~~President Obama, August 11, 2009 Town Hall meeting.

Yet, he wants the same people to run our healthcare!

Name me one thing the Fed Gov't does and does well that could not be done faster, better or cheaper by a private group?

Perhaps, but he hasn't been president, either. So we have no real test of his consistency.

Actually it's not correct in my opinion. There are many things that the government does that can't be done by private entities. Also, regarding the PO, although it does have it's share of problems, when was the last time you mailed a letter across the country using UPS or FedEx for 42 cents yet if the post office were to raise it's price to mail a letter to a buck and a half, you the people would bitch about that too!

Due to the size, political climate and a number of other issues, the government seems to be filled with overwhelming problems but there are a ton of things that happen seamlessly every day that keep our country together and it's all done by 'civil servants' that get paid less than the private sector would pay them. The unsung heroes that you don't hear about. When was the last time you thought about who made sure your dollar bill was printed correctly, your search of the internet for a census count was available, the guy who hasn't paid his taxes was caught, prisoners were locked up instead of beating on your front door, your federal building (courts, offices, monuments & grounds) were clean and well kept, you enjoyed that national park, your money was safe in the bank or that the latest investment scheme was stopped, drug shipments foiled, cargo ships safely running on the waters. The government is 'we the people' and there are a lot of them that do thing daily that we forget and they do them quite well. Nope, it's not perfect but that's the cost of independence and a democracy. Happy New Year.

actually I work for the government, we have 3 seperate divisions that all do the same job, one run by civil servents one by the military and one by contractors. Now guess which one runs the most effiecent and which the least. The civil side puts out product with the LOWEST failure rate the contractors have the HIGHEST failure rate, it was so bad they had to shut it down and pull everything back in from the fleet (Navy) because it could fail when they needed it to protect their very lives. I love it when people who have never worked for the government or have friends of friends who heard from people that work for the government bash how it is run. Is it perfect fuck no but no business out there is perfectly run. Y it would be way better having people like ENRON or the banks running things we would be so much better off. Also like one person posted about the PO you can't mail a letter by Fedex or UPS for 42 cents and if you go to any other country its well over a dollar to mail a first class letter.

there's a lot to be said about most of the points made in the original post. but the reality is, "republicans", "democrats", "independents" are millions of individuals, capable of thinking and voting for themselves.

i admire the president, but he hasn't accomplished much, to keep independents and republicans who crossed over to vote him into office, in the fray for the upcoming midterms. feelings about jesus, abortion, etc won't mean much to anyone in 2010 if they don't have a job; they don't feel good spending money; and home equity sits in the toilet.

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are doing any good. I think it's time to look for a new party. The track record of both has not been good.

If the economy doesn't get better this next year, Obama will never get another term. I don't beleive the economy is all his fault, but people are going to assume it is.

The court house in Milwaukee is not very clean at all. The floors looked like they were not scrubed for months. The restrooms were filthy that I went to another place to use the restroom. Government is cutting back on its custodial services and it is showing with unsanitary conditions. I'm not saying that the people who clean these buildings are not doing the best they can with the time they are given, but they are understaffed. There are tons of people looking for work. Why don't they put some of these people to work, so at least the place isn't so unsanitary?

Because it costs money and you the tax payer don't want to pay for it.

As democrats we can't subsidize every program, support everyone who refuses to be accountable for their actions, support citizens who's families refuse to help there own and still keep the restrooms clean. Oh wait, maybe that sounds too republican....hmmmm

Government doesn't work, so republicans get into office and try legislating in ways that prove it, to the detetriment of the citizenry.
