Blank IM's.

What is meant by a blank IM Is it a threat, or the new chat up line

Just got one, I sent "hey" back and got no response.

I get those from time to time. Most guys will respond, when I respond, but some don't. What is this all about?

The guys that do responded, seam like nice guys, and one or two have chatted with me for while, and I can only say, that they are very nice guys, but why the blank IM to start? Why not "Hi" or something?

As for those that don't respond, I would like to know why they IM me in the first place?

Mike

but what they mean to say when they don't even respond?

Hey there Mike,
It does happen to me, but unfortunately (part of the time) I have dialup....and it takes a second for me to see the screen and I always assume the person already said hello.

Kind of pain, but I wouldn't be offended.

Hope your holidays went as well as possible.

Can that happen with dialup?

I have dialup too and I know it is slow, but if the guy said something, wouldn't it be there in the IM window when it opened? Or would it?

I'm not offended by it, at least not by those that reply, but the ones that don't reply are the ones that confuse me. What are they up to?

Mike

P.S My holidays were not great but I made the best of it. Thanks.

Maybe it is just his cat walking across the keyboard and sending the IM.

I forgive you

That is an acceptable explanation. Maybe there is a good, acceptable explanation for all the ones I got, and maybe those guys, are not just trying to freak me out

Honestly, I think I would rather get hate mail

Caslon is right I think. I am not an IMer, but I am a klutz. Guys may accidentally hit IM without even knowing it. Can this happen?

Don't think it was you either eb925guy.

I could name names, but I'm not into embarrassing guys, and as I am finding out there could be an understandable explanation for it.

This happened when someone IMed me, then I blocked their profile and they tried again. Efforts after I blocked him still came through, but blank.

A bug?

I thought they outlawed dialup. (15M/2M Verizon FIOS Business Circuit here)

I get the stupid, cowardly, pictureless, that send me the blank IMs. I get 'em here sometimes, but, get them lots more over on gay.com.

I usually say something like "What it is that you want?", which (LOL) scares 'em even worse, and, then, they freak out and don't say anything at all. So, then, I warn them that I'm about to put them on ignore, and, when the don't respond, I cast them off into the pestiverse.

I can't imagine what it must be like to lead life in such a paralyzing way, but, I'll tell you this much, I'm not taking on the baggage, nor acting as enabler to the illness.

Sometimes when I receive an IM, two windows pop up: one that's blank and one that says I have a duplicate session open. This is definitely a bug.

I've tried IMing myself just to see how IM works; I believe you don't initiate a conversation until you have actually sent the other guy a message. Therefore, if you consistently get a blank IM window, their message is probably getting lost (of course, it's possible the guy trying to get the courage to IM Mikephil is very shy, and unknowingly his hands nervously press down on the space bar and return key, unknowingly sending blank messages ;)

I haven't blocked anyone here. They are from different guys every time and not often, and most guys reply when I reply to them, and all have been cool, but why not say "Hi" or something. Would you sit or stand beside some one in person you wanted to talk to, and just wait for them to speak first?

Anyway, it's the ones that don't reply that bug me.

McGay, that's a monster not a bug

I should say, I like to get messages, and mail here, so no need for much courage, and I always reply in a nice way, but say something when you message me. I don't bite
