    Not sure if there has already been a forum about this. New Year resolutions usually last a few weeks and are then forgotten. Here are mine that I'm determined to follow through on :

    manage money better
    start going back to the gym
    post only respectfully worded responses on RJ forums

    Anyone have any you're determined not to give up on?

    I must sell one of two river places even though I don't have to, doing so would pay off some debt and allow extra so I can hire some things done to the two places left. Then I will have less to do and more time to enjoy life. Keeping both extra places is insane !!!! But I like both places and don't know which to sell. HELP !!!!

    * Become a social smoker, as in, stop BUYING smokes and needing to smoke al the time. I'm not quitting, because if I were to say I will never have a cigarette again, that it would be a lie. So, I just won't buy them anymore, but allow myself the occasional smoke when offered.

    * Write two books

    * Start writing fiction again

    * Move to Montreal

    * Transfer universities

    * Start going to the gym/start working out again

    I already started, by finalizing a decision New Year's Eve that will improve my life for a change. It was so vindicating to welcome in the New Year this way!

    I'm choosing not to be responsible for others because of their poor choices.

    My serious resolutions for the year are:

    1. Get to goal weight of 85kgs (so I have to shed another 5)

    2. Save money - I have a specific target for that which is reachable

    3. Publish 5 academic publications

    4. Get a least one category 1 grant

    5. Secure my employment beyond the end of this year (my contract ends 31 December)

    6. Take up indoor rock climbing icon_biggrin.gif

    1. To have more fun. Started with New Years Eve party, the first real party in a long time where I had a good time instead of sitting quietly and thinking about nothing.

    2. To be less self deprecating. I've gotten so used to putting myself down over the years, to avoid anyone else having the first cut. My good friends tell me I'm too hard on myself and never cut myself any slack.

    MuchMoreThanMuscle saidBe more nurturing to myself. I need to learn to start putting myself first. I've lead a life of putting others first and I am left with not much for myself.

    I think 2009 was the year I was really able to forgive myself and not be so hard on myself. So that was amazing for me.

    And I anticipate graduating college this year. icon_smile.gif

    I totally hear you, I'm in the same situation, I feel like ive put everyone else first and have given up my independence just to make them happy & support them, while all the time leaving myself last. In order to help them I need to help myself too!

    So in order to help mysef out, I need to address the areas ive neglected:

    - Build muscle while burning fat so I can see my abs (Ive never seen them my entire life)
    - Save some cash for treatments & holidays etc
    - develop my business for financial freedom
    - Have a SEX LIFE AGAIN (can anyone here help out with that one?) lol

    Good luck with finishing the college study & make the most of 2010!

    - Promote myself and music better (maybe find an agent)
    - Perform more often and at decent venues
    - Get my shoulder fixed properly (gym injury from a few months back) - so I can work out my upper body properly again.. this has SUCKED, as I've been in pain.
    - take a proper vacation this year - maybe performing whilst travelling

    - ... and... meet someone really cool to date?? I hope. icon_smile.gif

    3. Dive back into the dating pool.
