Have you all seen this? It's amazing! It's where the kids get the US to change the meaning of the word fag from a derogatory word for gays to stand for inconsiderate Harley bikers.

OMG....seriously hilarious. Big Gay Al standing there with a sign that says GAYS AGAINST FAGS was awesome.

streaming here.....season 13, episode is called The F Word

Haha, the first reply already is derailing the thread... but it's a good clip, a real good one.

South Park has a way of allegorizing some of the sickest things with today's headlines. The episode about the oft-overused word "fag" is real good in pointing out its different meanings.

"What if you're thinking about getting a Harley?"

    "Then you're bike-curious" LOL!

I thought it was a funny and thought-provoking episode, yet I am reluctant to be completely convinced by their argument on semantics.

Words do change meanings, yet they do way more slowly than the creators indicate. The "F" word is still alive and very offensive even if the youth don't directly use it as a derogatory term against gays. Everyone knows it is a term used against gays, so applying a different meaning to it doesn't do much.

That last paragraph is a little confusing, but the basic gist is that the "F" word won't stop being derogatory towards gays for awhile, so we should learn to stop using it rather than applying it to annoying Harley riders.

The episode is still very clever though. I always enjoy seeing Matt and Trey's view on social issues.

Yes, but their point is that the words "fag" and "faggot" are way too fun for people to say and no one is going to stop using them....so we just need to change the meaning. We can't expect anything to change overnight, and changing the meaning of a word will take less time then simply getting people to stop using it. Didn't it mean a cigarette in the 50's? That's not very long at all.

Harley bikers will never look the same again, that's for sure. Their loud bikes have annoyed me for so long

Making this doubly funny is the fact that gay pride and the annual biker rally are often scheduled for the same June weekend in Austin.

    Heh.
