    Y am I here ? ( on this site ) I'm not a jock

    - I need to loose weight & exercise. Basically: " get in shape / tone up ."

Since I don't look like the hot young guys I see on this site = Y am I here?

I'm not even verified - don't have a pic. or profile posted = I'd be too ashamed!

Can't seem to get the motivation - not can I keep up a routine.

I'd love to do P 90 X ( or is it PX 90 ?) At my age, 59, what can I do to get

into shape - and maintain a routine for life - that's my desire - or should I say =

    wishful thinking.

    CAN ANYONE HELP?

THANKS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

even though the name is Real Jock I dont think you necessarily have to be one. There are alot of great guys on here and they have the passion and desire to make their life better in alot of ways, not just physically.

We all share our experiences and info on here and thats what makes it great. Don't worry if you look a certain way, as long as you have the desire to want to improve any of the guys on here will be more than willing to help out...trust me.

Note: Loosing weight/finding the motivation to loose the weight all starts with the mind and emotion, once you pin-point or overcome that, it'll become 2nd nature like the rest of us.

This site provides a great outlet for people trying to get extra knowledge on working out among other things. Post your picture and be proud. It will give you incentive to work out a little more. You can do it. What is a Jock anyway??? I dont play sports...just go to the gym and run. Yet im here.

If you read about 98% of the posts, they have nothing to do with sports, nutrition or exercise; so there isn't much of that discussed on the daily. However, you can research a multitude of great tips and solicit advice from guys anytime you like. If your goal is to get hot, get fit, get active or just get laid; chances are you'll be able to get help with that here. If nothing else, just look at the eye candy I guess. Congrats on at least taking the step toward bettering yourself!

i agree that you don't have to look a certain way (i.e. be fit, muscled, etc.) to be on this site, but there ought to be a prerequisite about being some sort of athlete.

While there are articles on health and body maintenance and forum topics that span the spectrum, the essence of this site is a gathering place for the athletes, the ball players, the physical competitors. There tends not to be too many of these type of people in the gay community (for reasons that go beyond the purpose of this post) and thus this acts as a town square for us. If you are not an athlete, you really don't fit the scope of this website.

Here's my take on the website's name and content...

    1) RealJock is an exciting title that suggests "attractiveness" to its members, yet is a name that doesn't sound "skeezy"...so if you look at it from a less than literal standpoint my guess is that its good marketing...plain and simple.

    2) The content of the site leans towards health. Not sports. This site promotes healthy eating habits and workout advice for all types of people! If the people at RJ didnt want it that way...it wouldnt be!

    3) Having played a sport is awesome...But its my opinion that by the time we're 21 (give or take)...nobody realy gives a hoot whether or not you were a JV athlete for your high school of 300. I can think of 10,000 things more interesting about a guy...my guess is that the creators of RealJock knew that it would be a pretty boring website without some variety!

You'd be able to answer that question of why you are here better than anybody else

It can be for many reasons but the best would be the DESIRE to get yourself into better shape

That doesn't mean that you'd need to be ripped and ready to model in a magazine
It means that you'd transform your lifestyle into something more healthy
and enjoy the comeraderie of like minded men

It's been said before and it is indeed the simplest of answers; you'll change when you're ready to change.

I'll be starting my strength training program at a new gym on the 17th. Up until then, I have really only been adamant about what and how much I eat. That and some regular aerobic exercise has done wonders...about 50lbs worth. But I recognize I have to do more to get where I want to be. That means getting my self-conscious ass into a gym and start using weights and resistance training. I'm hoping to get that "high" from it, that a lot of guys talk about on here. I'm going to need it to keep going. I get the same from playing tennis or baseball, so it's likely.

It will be a brick wall, my friend. And when you run into it face first, you will wake up and know what you need to do.

    (that's been my personal experience)

And, the best of luck to you!!

Welcome and you are not on your own with not being a jock; some people here are not even men. Have a good one too.

Everyone starts somewhere. Many of the guys on here don't play a sport so they aren't jocks any more than you are. Don't let it bother you.

That's assuming you think "Real Jock" is referring to in-shape men who are trained to play in sports.

Or is it: A support for the genitals worn by men engaging in strenuous exercise?

I'm just here to look at the jocks. Defined either way...

You should at least upload a picture and get your account verify. It won't make you look like a lurker. As long as you want to lose weight/train and want fitness-related information - you're on the right site. icon_smile.gif
