Ok, normally I won't think about doing this but... Recently I've been feeling very, very bloated all the time. I haven't had a decent bowel movement in weeks. At first I thought I just ate too much sugar at Christmas but I'm beginning to think I'm blocked up. I somethimes get cramps like I'm passing a lump of coal.

Has anyone ever used one of these colon cleansing products? I would prefer a pill or tea before I stick anything up my butt...

I have used a 7-day colon and liver cleansing kit that I found at Whole Foods. The name of it escapes me.

It definately loosened things up and revealed some nasty things I had hiding inside me. I need to do one soon, but am considering a colonic. Anyone have an experience to share (not in too much detail please )

One thing to note if you are doing a serious cleanse is that there are a lot of good things in your body that regulate your system. Make sure to replace the active biotics you strip away. You should be able to find a probiotic any place you can get a cleansing kit.

There is a product out there called "Fleet Phospho Soda Solution". Ask your friendly neighborhood Pharmacist.

It's what Docs frequently recomend as prep before you get a colonoscopy.

It tastes like shit; correction, I think shit has to taste better than this stuff. It is REALLY nasty stuff.

It takes about 48 hours if you follow the directions carefully, during which time you don't want to be too far from your porcelain friend.

The results are a VERY thorough cleansing however.

Afterward you will need to put some bacteria back into your system - I recommend some yogurt.

I also recommend starting back up with very small, simple meals - soup, etc.

Good Luck.

bravo for asking, i'm sure it's something a lot of people wonder but are shy to talk about

honestly, i've done both, cleansed and vacuumed

i prefer the vacuum

the sudden feeling and look on your face when the cleansing product finally kicks in and you're in the middle of a corporate meeting, isn't too impressive, but that's just me

they both worked well, but i'm a busy man and can't always be sure i'm near a hole in the floor

don't do it too often though

there are some things that need to remain in the body

Citrucel fiber, oatmeal.........should be part of your daily diet.

No need for anything radical. The food will move through just fine. Purging will only fuck up your guts and there's no real value to that.

Unless you're really overweight, the fiber will keep stuff moving.

If you're bloaty, drink more water. That will lower your ADH, and cause you to drop water, as well as help with your digestion and elimination.

Sounds like you have dry stools. Again, the bloat, and the dry stools, would be an indicator that you're getting dehydrated.

As well, at 36 years of age, your estrogen has come up, and your testosterone has gone down. If you aren't already you should be on anti-aging therapy from your doctor. Having a higher ratio of testosterone will help your recovery, protect your heart, lower your bp, prevent osteperosis, preserve your lean muscle mass, put your cholesterol in line, keep you leaner, protect against diseases of aging (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's), keep you from catching colds, help your sexual performance, and improve your mood, as well as help you stay less bloaty. Some of the bloat is probably from estrogen, in light of your age, and some is probably from having your ADH to high.

Electrolyte levels can be tricky. Personally, I go LOW on sodium, because I sweat a bunch and don't each much junk food. I'm guessing that you're holding sodium, and you're holding water, because you aren't getting enough fluid. Like so many things..you gotta'a fuel the furnace. Drink more water. Take some Citrucel. Should clear up in a few days unless you have other issues.

Agreed. I had diverticulitis in 2001, basically because I did not get enough fiber in my diet. Luckily I did not need a colostomy for it to clear up. Since then I have been faithful to getting enough (including having a teaspoon of Metamucil with my midday and evening protein shakes). I crap like crazy, but I almost never have the runs and almost never get constipated.

Yeah, it takes a while to get used to dropping all those poos, but, it keeps it moving through.

so, there is a form of therapy related to this topic. the implentation of which gives results similar to chiropractics. Sort of a holistic approach. Are you talking about a douche

My partner always has gut problems. We were told about KEFIR by a friend and it has helped him tremendously. Here is the link. http://www.lifeway.net/product/kefir.php

We have tried the strawberry/banana and the cherry and they are a little on the tart side but not bad. Tastes like very tart yogurt. He drinks about 4 onces per day of the stuff. Check at your grocery store over in the dairy isle.
