It seems more often than not, that VGL as a self description is right up there with the 'swimmers build' descriptor in the old days of classified ads. This seemed to cause confusion since 'swimmers build' more often than not actually meant "I can swim." rather than, "Built like an olympic swimmer!"
VGL seems to be a self descriptor of the narcissistic man or the man who believed everything his mother told him.
What I think of my looks is irrelevant. If someone finds me hideous or handsome, it's their opinion and is only relevant to them. I know that in that past I've been more surprised at people who disagree with my taste in men as if it were a fact rather than personal taste.
It's funny that in aesthetics, people cannot separate the difference between good design and personal taste. They simply believe that what they personally like is 'good taste' what they don't like is 'bad taste' regardless of what the local/cultural consensus is.
