My boyfriend has been wanting to go to a gay cruise but unfortunately I have the idea that gay cruises have a lot of flamboyant people (and i'm sure that may not be the case). I feel uncomfortable around really flamboyant people (don't know why), but I would love to hear your experience on gay cruises or if you have wanted to go on one, where? or what has stopped you?

Can't wait to hear your responses! icon_wink.gif

I reallly like it when people say they are really uncomfortable around flamboyant people because it just reminds me of when you first introduce your new kitty to your dog at the house.

The cat, if the dog comes close, tries to defend itself or attack the dog; HOWEVER, the kitty eventually gets use to the dog being around and doesn't mind the dog being there.

I use to be really uncomfortable around "flamboyant gay men" as well, but then I thought about it. If I'm just going to keep being uncomfortable and withdrawing from the situation, I'll NEVER get used to it. It's a silly thing to get uncomfortable about, too. My best friend now is probably the most flamboyant gay man in the WORLD but I'd never trade him for any other friend. He's just awesome!

omg gay cruises, though? Tell me if you go on one because I wanna know about it too icon_cool.gificon_lol.gif

I've been considering a gay cruise for a while. Been on a few normal cruises and loved them. That's actually how I found RJ in the first place... searching for a gay cruise partner.

The only thing that's been stopping me is the thought of sharing a room or booking a single at 4 times the price of a normal cruise. Well, that and some reports that many guys get drunk / high on these cruises....but yeah, I'd still like to go. Cruises are a great way to socialize.

where do the past topics go? Is there a black hole or a grave yard for them? There has been at least 3 or 4 threads on this same topic within the last 2 weeks

Maybe if there was an auto-suggest feature when creating a new topic, previous ones could come up to avoid duplicates. However, then we'd deal with the "other issue", which is run-on threads that no one actually reads.

BF and I have been on 5 gay cruises. It is my favorite way of vacationing. In our age group there are not so many flamboyant people anymore icon_cool.gif

At your age you'd be among the youngest on board. There are a lot of 20somethings on board, but I hardly ever see them because most party all night and sleep during the days.

Many people drink a lot icon_exclaim.gif of alcohol on these cruises and I assume many take drugs.
I love the many different dance parties that are organized every night, all the gay entertainment and the men..... eye-candy overkill.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidI had a friend that went on one. He said it's like a bathhouse floating on water for your entire trip. Just loads of sex everywhere you turn.
If you are into that, then a gay cruise is the place to go.

Thanks, but no thanks. That cruise has the reputation of being the most party-crazy and drugged out. Last year they started arresting people for possession of illegal drugs on the dock.

I was on a gay Windjammer years ago, before the major cruise lines discovered the gay market, and just before the emergence of AIDS. It was a floating whorehouse (but in a good way...) and a blast. Accomodations were spartan and the food wasn't so great, but sleeping under the stars and sail with a boatload of handsome men in the warm Carrribean was pretty great. In those days our shore excursions would draw some attention and sometimes a bit of hostility. On one island, I think it was Nevis, a young islander commented to me: "These boys really like each other a lot!"
    "Yes they do." I answered.

I don't think I'd enjoy going on another cruise, gay or straight.

A gay cruise is exactly what you want it to be. I did my first, in August 2007. I always wanted to go to Europe and the itinerary fit my interests. There were a variety of men on the cruise. Like on land, some were there for sex only, some partied all night, and some were just glad to be on vacation. I had a great time, visited some great sites, and met some really nice people. I'm not a whore on land and I wasn't one on sea either. In August 2010, I am doing my second gay cruise and am approaching with the same attitude.

i did a "gay cruise" on the Colorado River a few years back ... 11 gay men in a raft for 8 days and 120 rapids; don't think there was much sex going on though.
