For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States".

There is one chance in hell that this will pass, but who will go there.

It's not that well written and sounds like something the Tea Baggers would dredge up. It's a poor way to use something as important as the Constitution.

Do we need to amend the constitution to state what should be obvious, that it's dangerous to have a political class that routinely exempts itself from what it imposes on the citizens?

jprichva saidMore pandering to the boobs.

I agree with the idea!!! Got news for u M8, we as american taxpayers r all the boobs for letting this elite group exempt & enrich themselves at our expense. They will never pass it unless the american people demand it and force it down their throats. Why should they! They have a great thing going for them. Where else, except in politics, can u run for a job with everybody elses money and then, the very next day start running for the next election. Taking all the time off u need and still getting paid. Full salary, for the rest of your life. And not even required to show up for work. Your taxpayer paid staff doing all the work. You just vote the way they advise you.

    Great job!!!!!

Is that the revolution where cuckoo conservatives and the religious throw off the shackles of their insanities? This might explain the high esteem in which the pharmaceutical corps hold themselves.
