It really does not make any logical sense. I say that he is brain dead and they should officially report him as deceased.

Don't ya just love the photo they used of him doing a heil hitler. Very fitting.

Honestly though, what does the church think of hermaphrodites? They must have SOME kind of stance on that as well?

Pretty sure I remember a section in the Bible where Jesus said that some men are born as eunuchs in reference to kinds of men who were able to accept a life without marriage and hence relationships in that way with women.

"One such attack comes from laws or proposals which, in the name of fighting discrimination, strike at the biological basis of the difference between the sexes," said the pope, citing "certain countries in Europe or North and South America,” reported AFP. I guess sexually abusing minors, moving the offenders to protect the church and then paying millions to shut people up doesn't 'strike at the biological basis of the difference between sexes'. It only strikes at the moral basis, perhaps he's welcome homosexuality on moral grounds then since morality doesn't seem to be an issue with him.

I think the pledge of allegiance to the united states used to be done with that kind of salute until it fell out of favor due to HItler's rise in europe and his salute.
This show I saw on tv said that the salute comes from Roman period so it's not really a Nazi's invention.

That's ironic. I wonder if he argues that abstaining from sex as a priest strikes against the biological basis for being a man?
    Wait, I guess that's ok..

This is somewhat related to the topic. Anyone catch the Catholics Come Home ads? The most disturbing thing is they've been playing on LOGO recently.

he's just an old reactionary man trying to preserve an increasingly obsolete
    institution , and i'm catholic ( officially) .
It's trying to hold onto its dogma because that's what made it stand for over 2000 years. And they have been successful, we got to give them that.
But i'm afraid this time it isn't gonna work, for financial reasons for one thing. Athough with the rising of the South America where the church still has a strong foothold, it could keep its head above water. dunno.

And your ignorance is astonishing. Considering how many people around the world who not only follow him blindly, but actually DETERMINE their outlook on life based upon any given Pope, then I'd say, whether we agree with him or not, or find him repugnant or not, that in fact he DOES have authority. Certainly not divinely-ordained, mind you, but by virtue of his influence over the mindless, yes, he has authority.

And needs to be removed from this planet. If we were aboard the Battlestar Galactica, I'd say "Airlock the frakker!"
