As sad as such things can be for personal loss. look at the big picture and the trouble Father Earth would be in, if such things never come to pass. Already there is not enough food in some countries to feed all the people, or enough jobs, housing, medical care, and so on.

It seems the poorest of people seem to breed the most too, and have the lest resources to support the children they create. So such things for the survival of man, and this planet need to happen, to counteract all the irresponsible breeding in the world.

How many children the world over, do you think were born today?

For a believing child of God, death is NOT a tragedy, but an entrance to an eternal life of joy and peace. Those who survived are the ones who are grieving. Many I'm sure are praying at this very moment for God to come and take them too, out of this world of pain, trouble, and tears, to the loving arms of their Savior and their loved ones who passed away before them. However, many of these people will be restored to health again and will become very instrumental in the rebuilding of the lives of these people. God has work planned for them. Please see my post "The Bible and Earthquakes" in the spirituality forum.

Pattison, you've said some insightful things in the past, and a lot of stupid and inflammatory things, but this is too low even for you.

Your remarks above are as stupid as those who think an earthquake, or AIDS, or a flood, or a terrorist bombing is God punishing us. You've just blamed an earthquake, a product of plate tectonics and nothing more, on Haitians who have a lot of babies.

That's cruel, and so stupid it's almost fundamentalist!

I do not see Pattison saying God is punishing anyone because that's not what he said. He is actually saying that God is saving people through a tragedy like this. It's brings heartache to lose a loved, but he is just saying look at the bigger picture and what is often disguised as a hidden blessing. No one wishes the death of anyone, but as he says for the one who died, this is ofen a blessing for that person. Did God CAUSE the earthquake? Not necessarily. Perhaps the evil beings in the heavenly realms did. But God did allow it because he's carrying out a blessing that may be hidden to our eyes and is only known to him. .

G Force, I bet if you ask the victims, they'd feel differently. But then, judging by your posts, you don't seem to know how to engage your brain before expressing your ideas.

Your interpretation and your entitled to it.

Oh just as a foot note, some-one I love with all my heart, my soul mate, was murded just before Christmas in a terrorist act in Russian, in a train that was derailed just out of Moscow. I've not started one thread looking for sympathy, oh poor Pattison. No I think of what Seb would of said to me: "life goes on!", and it does..........................................................

I still go to work and make people laugh, a few people have asked whats wrong, as they see something in my eyes, and I say nothing.

I stand by what I said! I certainly don't even consider it remotely fundamentalist, as it has nothing to do with religion, but go have another look at what one really said. I know you belive you understand what you think I said. But I'm not sure you realise that what you read is not what I meant.

But at the same time, I'm only able too please one person a day, and today is not your day, and tomorrow is not looking good either.

I'll accept that! You are right I never did say God is punishing anyone, in fact I don't think God does punish anyone; well maybe not until after they are dead, because in this life, we have freedom of choice.

I have personally heard from some of the victims and they expressed the very thoughts I expressed. I personally know there is great faith in Haiti by many people. Their faith is in action right now as I speak.

Wow, my bullshit detector just exploded on that one!

Tell ya what, why don't you haul your ass down to Haiti and preach to those who are suffering. I'm sure they'll be able to use your "help." While you're at it, take a rescue dog and a shovel with you. At least THOSE will be useful.

I hope you all know that God is not the only who can cause an earthquake.
There are other spiritual beings who can cause earthquakes and they are evil to the core. All the evil and misfortune that came to Job in the O.T. was directly caused by Satan. Yes, God allowed him to do these things, because God used it all to strengthen Job's faith, but later God blessed him with double phsyical blessings than what he had before.

I don't have to haul my ass down there. I and other Christians monetary and prayer support is assisiting them both physically and spiritually very well. 8 local church members were there before the quake. Little did they know there would be a quake, but someone else knew they were going to be needed soon. Was this conincidence? I think not. "God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform," is the words to one of our hymns.

I don't disagree that evil exist in this world and that people open themselves up to be used in some way by that evil sometimes, but I believe in FREE WILL period. So you would have to open yourself up to that evil.

That said, I DO NOT believe Evil can do harm thru natural disaster, just as I don't believe God causes natural disaster. It is what it is, a "NATURAL" disaster.

I believe people have ruined this planet thru industrial progress. Global warming, if you believe that or not, and other problems which exist, cause the Natural Disasters we experience today.

I also believe the Earth will continue to decline to the point, we will welcome Gods hand on the return of his Son, if you believe that.

If you don't believe, it's ok. We'll just burn up or have a mini iceage. Scientist haven't quite agreed one way or the other. LOL

Once again...another bullshit thread about a god, bullshit christianity,......blah, blah, blah! Why is this nonsense not posted in that spirituality forum, where this bloody shit belongs? This should not be in the regular forums.
We then get all of these religious arseholes like G-f "A"rce going on and on about his god and christian beliefs.
I have made a promise to a couple of the religious fools here not to tread in the spirituality forums. Which I do not!
Yet time and time again we see these same religious panty wastes posting these bloody god/religious feckless shit where they do not belong!! icon_mad.gif

Any God who would let suffering like that in Haiti occur would be a complete heartless bastard. Fortunately, any one with half a brain knows better than to believe in some mythological ghost in the sky. Those who say that death and suffering are "good" because of some heavenly reward people get *after* their life of tragedy and pain are mindless and irrational. Such people belong in an asylum...

The life on this earth is the only one we've got, so make the most of it. If belief in some false deity or nonexistent afterlife helps you sleep at night and deal with life's hardships, then so be it... but you're only deluding yourself. Just stop poisoning the world (and this website) with your nonsense. We'd all be better off.
