After hearing the message, these fast boats played while buzzing the war ships. I now wish we would of blown them out of the water. Even though we did the right thing. It just sucks that Iran is taunting us this way. They just want us to start something.

Oh, come on. You feel taunted by Iran? Good grief.

The bushies would love an excuse to pounce Iran before dubyaGump gets his pink slip. I wouldn't put it past him and his crew of bullshit artists to have faked the whole thing to try to trump up some indignation on the part of the American populace.

Intel is saying it is faked.

CIA documents recently unclassified reveal that the Gulf of Tonkin incident which led to the escalation of the Vietnam War ... was a hoax.

Everything given as a reason to go to war with Iraq ... has been shown as a lie.

Iran doesn't want us to start something, we want us to start something. The problem is that people like you are also running the country and egging us on, "fight! fight! fight!" and creating issues as excuses to go to war.

Even were it Iranians, what does buzzing do to us? Are we that insecure and threatened that we have to murder people by blowing up their boats because they zip around our fleet ships?

Wow, that's mature, proportional. You rev your engine next to me at a stoplight. I pull out a bazooka and blow you and your car to kingdom come. Sound about right?

Well if the dems would let the military do their job and not butt in we might. There is too much stopping the military from going and killing the people they have too. But no , now we can not even wire tap with our a warrent, cant waterboard to get information out of someone, cant do anything with out the likes of Nancy Pelosi, and her democrat house stopping us from doing what we need to do.

    eh?

this is America, we have this thing called the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

-Nobody- should have the right to intercept my communications in any fashion without a warrant.

-Nobody- should have the right to torture -any- person in this country. torturing does -not- yield accurate or even useful information. that only happens in hollywood.

we do -not- need to be doing these terrible things to people. it is only small war-faring minds that insist we need to do these things. such minds are a hindrance to the benefit of the human race.

Maybe Nookie23 is a Fred Phelps mole.

What you're saying isn't even trendy anymore, kiddo, just ignorant.

I'll bet guys like this (see pic) give you a woody. Too bad they'd bust a cap in your homo ass if they could.

No Phelps family member ever looked so good as nookie23.

Perhaps we could tie him down and gag his mouth with something so he can't talk...icon_twisted.gif

This kid reminds me of another young, cute military type that posts here occasionally that opens his immature mouth to say ludicrous things he shouldn't. Also reminds me of myself at that age (young, cute military type that said immature and ludicrous things)...

First off we reacted properly and did not take the bait. Iran has a history of things like this such when the kidnapped the British sailors that were clearly in Iraqi water and then put them on TV and claimed they had been in Iranian waters.
This also shows what is going on in Iran. The coastal forces are not run by Iran which operates in a professional or cordial manner with other navies operating in international water. These forces are part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard which is controlled by the President, Holocaust and homosexual denier Ahmadinejad.

I don't think its an accurate comparison between revving your engine at a stop light, and speed boats dropping packages in the water and claiming that they are about to blow up the ship. Had the US ships fired on the Iranian vessels, it would have totally been within international law and the law of the sea.

As far as trusting the government? Hell no I don't. I wouldn't trust it with a Democrat in the White House.

Hey Jarhead, I've always wondered, and since you're older and wiser than the kid-Jarhead you describe, I'll ask:

What do you think brings a gay kid to have this sort of mindset? The only pattern I can find is under age 23 and from a staunchly red state, but it has to be more than that. Is internalized homophobia a component?

Just curious. I tend to assume a pretty rough and abusive childhood without having dealt with any of it yet, but that's just my uneducated assumption. I imagine a tough looking outer shell that's, in reality, paper thin (or at least containing very soft spots). Kinda "Will Hunting"...ya know?

The Raw StoryAn American journalist and historian (Gareth Porter) who was the first to break the story of a secret Iranian peace overture to the Bush Administration in 2006 alleges that the latest Pentagon encounter between Iranian ships and a Navy vessel was a deliberate fabrication.

    Original Story

How the Pentagon planted a false story
    By Gareth Porter

WASHINGTON - Senior Pentagon officials, evidently reflecting a broader administration policy decision, used an off-the-record Pentagon briefing to turn the January 6 US-Iranian incident in the Strait of Hormuz into a sensational story demonstrating Iran's military aggressiveness, a reconstruction of the events following the incident shows.

The initial press stories on the incident, all of which can be traced to a briefing by deputy assistant secretary of defense for public affairs in charge of media operations, Bryan Whitman, contained similar information that has since been repudiated by the navy itself.

Iran showdown has echoes of faked Tonkin attack

Iran showdown has echoes of faked Tonkin attack
    Nick Juliano

A dramatic showdown at sea. Crossed communication signals. Apparently-hostile craft nearby. Sketchy intelligence leading to ratcheted up rhetoric.

The similarities between this week's confrontation between US warships and Iranian speedboats and events off the coast of North Vietnam 44 years ago were too hard for many experts to miss, leading to the question: Is the Strait of Hormuz 2008's Gulf of Tonkin?

On Aug. 2nd and 4th, 1964, the USS Maddox and the USS Turner Joy, patrolling off the North Vietnamese coast, intercepted signals indicating they were under attack. Within days, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which paved the way to the escalation of the Vietnam War. However, as some intelligence agents suspected at the time, the Aug. 2nd attack took place after the USS Maddox fired first, according to a National Security Agency report released in 1995.

This week another NSA report surfaced, confirming suspicions that the Aug. 4th attack never happened.
