Now I know some will look at him with nothing but smut! But I feel this young man who was born into such a disastrous union, of his Ma, and Pa, and both being a fault too.

He has emerged form a difficult childhood (see even those born into privilege, don't always have perfect childhoods) , including the loss of his mother, with surprising composure; and with the recent loss of a loved one myself, I truly understand that.

He is also demonstrating remarkable maturity about choosing his life mate, and has really never put a foot out of step growing up either, other than maybe just one to many cocktails, but he is still a child, albeit even with all his maturity. He has the look of his mother, yet the strength and dedication of his Grandmother, the Queen.

It all gives you hope for the monarchy, and commion decency.

For you Americans who don't understand this. Oz would never of become the Great Southern Land it did, if it was for Monarchy, via King Henry the VIII, creating the Church of England, as we then would of grown up tp be a Catholic Country, and Oz is full of catholics who fled their catholic country to come to this protestant one, to get a quality of life they would never of had in the Catholic home; thats why we have so many Irish here.

Not for one minute am I trying to turn this into a religus thread, but looking at History it's hard to avoid the fiber of monarchy in the fabric of history, just as it is with religion.

    Long live the Queen.

I only hope that that monarchy, and for that matter, all monarchies, pass into the pages of history.

I have no hope for the future of the monarchy. Nor do I see any reason for their purpose.

Long live the Queen? She's lived long enough. So has that crown.

I mean ... damn ... could I have possibly received a warning before you aptly decided to break your critical foot off into someone else? and SLAM.

$5 says most people on this site don't know who this is, much less the name of his country.

You have way too high expectations of us if you'd only wager $5.

    I didn't have a clue.

Monarchies are mostly about the identity of a country, not so much about real power itself than a "different flavor" of government that can do mostly the same things than a republic can.

Let's not dismiss however, the goverment systems that employ a monarch; just see the list of the countries with nationwide marriage equality:

    Belgium - Constitutional Monarchy
    Canada - Constitutional Monarchy
    Netherlands - Constitutional Monarchy
    Norway - Constitutional Monarchy
    South Africa - Constitutional Democracy
    Spain - Constitutional Monarchy
    Sweden - Constitutional Monarchy

Countries with marriage equality in some jurisdictions:

United States of America - Federal Republic
    Mexico - Federal Republic

Can you guess why that is? icon_wink.gif

As for the king of Bhutan, he seemed familiar to me, but couldn't place it until I read the next posts and I did remember I saw a photo of him in a keynote about Buddhist economics.

Harry is cuter, but looks like he could be the prototypical douche. Or a great lay. Actually, it's amazing how often those two go together. Or so I've heard...

HRH Prince William who will down here in Oz in a few days time, as asked to come and visit Oz, and too also meet the people down here, I'm sure he will be warmly welcomed, as we always welcomed his mother, and grandmother; the Queen our head of State.

In a report I just read it stated wills has a good sense of humor, and is even self deprecating too; he will fit in just fine down here then. His grand mother the Queen not only approved the trip, but paid for it too.

I love the way some people go on about how much the Royal family cost Britain. But they cost nothing, as the queen and other top Royals on the Civil list are self supporting. The civil list come about when the Monarchy of past handed over royal lands in London, and around England and so on, an in return for the money the government gets off this land as in rent, they pay the civil list out of that, and the rest goes into infrastructure, so the Royals cost nothing. This change was forced because Charles II and James II had so much wealth, that it made it possible for them to live and be free of Parliament.

    Long live the Queen.

WHAT!!? don't you think it's fair that someone is born being worth more than ordinary people. I think it's so cool that royalty can break laws and be immune to prosecution, well mommy might give a spanking...

    no really, I agree DUH,

To the Guillotine!!! but spare Harry, I want the naughty prince icon_twisted.gif

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidNeither of the two brothers do anything for me.

Thats OK Obama does very little for me, but thats not relevant or the point either is it. But then Obama is nothing more than another American President the Queen has had to deal with as well. I do ponder is she over the shock yet of seeing a black fella in the top job in America; I'm sure she must of thought she would never see that in her life time either.
