The smallest minority on earth is the individual who still speaks his own mind, unafraid of the consequences. icon_idea.gif

That's because they've all been killed off for speaking from their asses.

I actually disagree with the last bit slightly..

we should all hold at least a little fear of our own actions, be they verbal or physical, being unafraid of the consequences I think shows a lack of care to both what you say and who you say it too.

However, fear that stops you from saying what you mean or what you believe I believe is just perhaps a touch to much heh

I say there should be some fear because fear will force you to be considerate and articulate while still understanding that there will be repercussions from what you have said you have attempted to minimise the pain others might feel from your words, while still not water down the message that you are trying to convey to other people.

Lots of people claim to be "brutally honest" and to me it just comes across as being an arsehole, but you can be incredibly honest and not be a prick, you choose your words carefully and be considerate of people and what they may feel.

I try not to drag people down by my words, be they good words or bad.. although I haven't always succeeded

....or are known as the ones who stand up for what they believe in maybe? This statement does not "always" have to be taken in a negative way. icon_idea.gif

......sometimes I worry about the consequences and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I say what I need to/want to say. Sometimes, it's a matter of waiting for the right time. Sometimes it's about gathering more information before I fire off my mouth. However when I do fire it off, by that point I just don't give a FUCK!

It is surprising to me that some of the posters here decided to take this statement in a "negative, insulting" way. We have all encountered rude insensitive people in our life, but we need to put it behind us and not dwell on them or what was said.

It is a thought provoking statement. On the surface, it seems to encourage integrity in speech, even when saying things others may hate you for.

It also presupposes one uses one's "own mind" in order to be able to speak it and not just utter everyone else's thoughts.

And my impression is that the people who practice this seem to be among the most hated here on Real Jock.
