I've been told I look like some celebrities, but as far as being mistaken for one it only happened twice - also in Manhattan, for the same celebrity, the same rainy week. I was asked flat out if I was Stephen Bauer by both a cab driver and a waiter. Bauer is probably best known as Al Pacino's sidekick in Scarface - the one that married his sister.
This was in 1987 when I was new to the city during my first couple of nights on the town involving cab rides and restaurant dinners, dressed up in a navy suit with an olive raincoat. Recently I saw the movie "Sword of Gideon" and it all made sense. Bauer headlined that flick in '86 and aside from suits and trenchcoats wore olive drab through much of it. He'd probably also been in NYC promoting the film.
Here's a YouTube clip of Bauer rockin' an olive military tank top in "Gideon": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM4h4TsEDqE
