Wisconsin state legislators will be voting on Tuesday whether to ban text messaging while driving. The ban is expected to pass. 19 states have already passed the ban. I feel this is long overdue because many have been seriously hurt and even killed here by people who are text messaging while they are driving. My own niece was hit in the back of her car because a driver was text messagig and didn't see her stopped at the traffic light. The roads are dangerous enough around here without drivers being distracted by text messaging. I will not even ride in a car of a driver who text messages while he is driving.

The fine will be $100-$400 for a first offence and $200-$800 for a second offence. And on the third offence, your driver's license will be suspended for 6 months.

There should be some sort of campaign or movement where friends don't talk to friends who are texting in a car to them.

"Friends don't let friends text and drive."

It has been banned out in CA for a while now. It is amazing how many people just do not obey the law. Handsfree, txting. I have almost been hit a few times because someone was not paying attention.

Then there are the soccer moms that are so busy they forgot to put on their layers of makeup with a spackle knife, and are busily applying their mascara while driving down the road behind me.

It's sometimes fun to spike the brakes to see the jar go spilling all over their white blouse! LOL

    happy dance.

I can't stand it when people do this. 99% of the time, those whose text with driving are already horrible on the road to boot.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidAdmit, you are just jealous that they are applying mascara openly in public. You resort to secretly applying yours in the privacy of your own home. Your resentment is painfully obvious.

OMG WTF. Are you saying it is not already. WoW how backward is that. It already is in my State Oz and has been for a number of years. even talking on the phone while driving is band, unless yo have hands free and the phone has a mount, to sit on.

Is this all of America you can still use your phone while driving?

I just could not get over while I was in Hawaii, the amount of people talking on the phone while driving, it was really bad.

In fact of the first of January, this year smoking in a car with people under 18, is now illegal too.
