Ok, so, I have noticed this LA Fitness near my area...not that area jerks, around my home, and it looks appealing. However, it also looks expensive. I have decided that, I would be ok just working out in a 20 dollar gym called Retro Fitness, and that is all I really need. At first it was doing it's job, or should I say I was doing my job and working out, and working on my fitness. A couple months into it, I just got bored to the point where I was missing days. The gym I am in right now is more of a lift and run kinda gym, and I think I am more of a run, lift, shoot hoops, swim, bike, and do everything indoors gym kinda guy. So I come home yesterday to see that a promo free trial pass to LA Fitness was waiting in my mail. I am def going to go use it cause, hello, FREE, but I am nervous. Not that it's so huge and there might be big guys there, please brotha that does not bother me, but I am affraid I am gonna get sucked into this Giant of overpriced gym membership fiasco(if that made sense). I want a gym that I can play in, and work out in and not be bored.

Ok so I think What I want to ask is, A) Is this gym really expensive? B) what the price range might be? C) can it be cheap, like the most I would pay is 50-70 bucks a month? D) If you have a membership, do you love it? E) How much do you pay? and anything else I need to know...I know, a lot of question are being asked, but I do need the info, and I think this can be a great source.

    Thanks Guys,

    Frank

Do you have a 24 Hour Fitness near you? I still think they offer the best deal for your money, compared to the other chain gyms. You can go to Costco and pick up a prepaid 2 year membership for $400, no hidden fees or contracts. At the end of the 2 years, just go back to Costco and buy another one. Or just walk away and join another gym.

As far as LA Fitness, I heard gym membership there averages about $30 - $45 a month. Not sure about initiation fees and such.

    for what it's worth..
I think LA Fitness facilities are pretty good.
however, i think their operating hours are sucky...
they typically close at 11pm m-th
fridays at 9pm and 8pm closing on sat/sun
the LA Fitness i goto, they practically shove you out the door at closing time

after a change in circumstances, i'll be dropping the LA fitness membership and switch over to 24hour

I like LA fitness. The LA Fitnesses in my area are typically open 5am - midnight Monday - Thursday, 5am - 10pm on Fridays, Saturday/Sunday 8am - 8pm. The facilities are great! They have lap pools, Basketball courts, racquetball courts and just about every type of resistance machine or free weights that you could ever want. They also have tons of cardio. I don't know if I got a steal of what but my initiation fee was like $150 and I only pay $24.99 for all clubs.

I also belong to 24 hour fitness. They have just about everything LA Fitness has except racquetball courts. They are less expensive and Costco has a great deal for their gym membership.

Either one is great and you would be happy!

I think that LA Fitness (at least those here in Minneapolis) are quite nice, clean, and up to date... and tend to run in the mid range for gym memberships, around $30-40 range. One other thing I like is they tend to have convenient locations if you live in a bigger city.

I went to LA fitness once to apply for a job (not as a personal trainer lol) and there was a bitchy little gay man there. The place gave me bitchy vibes. But it does look really nice there though and they have a lap pool.icon_biggrin.gif
