Just curious if there are any other RJs attending the New England gay ski week (Winter Rendezvous) up in Stowe Vermont this week? Can't wait to hit the slopes!

I'm thinking about going. I'm a 22 year old snowboarder who loves Stowe. Just wondered how many guys in their 20's usually show up as I've never been to this event and would like to be around guys my own age.

it does sound like a lot of fun, but for some reason I keep thinking it will mostly be older guys, with no younger guys (no offense to older guys I would just rather be around people my own age).

I'm confused. What does being gay have to do with skiing?

Its always fun to ski with other people. Skiing or snowboarding with other gay people allows you to meet new friends.

What does gay have to do with *any* sport really?? Why are you on a gay sport web site to begin with? icon_twisted.gif Probably because you want to be with like minded people. It's the same with any 'gay' sporting event.

Gay ski weeks provide a way for other gay winter athletes to do their sport together and meet afterward with other activities. Or basically, to have a fun with other people like yourself.

    > I've never been to this event and would like to be around guys my own age.

Sorry I haven't been able to attend the event for the last few years so I don't have a feeling for the attendance's ages. A large group of us from the OutRyders are attending. We are more toward the 30s and 40s.

Hope that you can convince some of your friends to attend...

If anyone does end up going to Winter Rendezvous, feel free to say hello if you see me. I'm in my current gear in my photo.

    Enjoy the Snow!

I would really like to go as I love skiing and snowboarding. I'm also in my 20's and would drive up if their are other guys in my age range going.

    Nonsense.

Someone merely being gay does not make them "like myself".

I am on this site because it is a gay dating site for athletic types. That makes sense.

A gay book club, gay sports team, gay choir, does not make sense.

If i were to join a book club it would be to be around people who - can you guess it? - like books. Not people who happen to have the same eye colour, skin colour, sexual orientation, or any incidental characteristic. Ditto for sports team, choir, skiing trip.

You can get a date on a ski trip and you know that you already have one thing in common.

This sounds like so much fun. This is the first I've heard about it. They must not advertise it very well. Anyway I'm going to try and make it for the weekend.

I bet you that you'll have a fun time. Stowe is a fantastic mountain. They're getting a few inches today and tomorrow. It's going to be sunny Thursday-Saturday. The Apres should be jumpin'. Varla Jean Merman is always fantastic.

    Guys,

Just a quick summary about this year's Winter Rendezvous event.

Attendance: There were a ton of guys. Most seemed like they were in their 30s or 40s. A lot of cuties.

Mountain: Conditions were good to very good. They could have used some fresh snow but that's the weather for you. Stowe did a great job grooming. They do need to maybe re-rate some trails for example the Chin Clip is a single black when in fact should be a triple black - it's completely deadly. Favorite day boarding - Thursday - the place was literally empty.

Stoweflake headquarters - A huge improvement over the previous Commodores Inn. A great setting for all of the off-slope events.

Favorite events: Opening Icebreaker event - completely packed, great mood but they need to serve dinner better; James Judd and Varla Jean Merman were both fantastic; danced my ass off at the disco party.

Improvements: One great addition would be to have guides on the mountain for each level. Whistler gay ski week does this and it adds another entire dimension to the event because you meet and get to know other guys attending the weekend. I think Whistler just gives guides free registration.

Open the pool party to everyone. This year only people staying at the Stoweflake Inn could go to the pool party which no one knew until a week before.

End with the disco party. It's a lot more fun than current music. :-)

Overall, a fantastic winter event. Mark your calendars for next year!
