So this is what the once proud Dallas franchise has evolved into- a crying, complaining wanna be team of underachieving and overpaid so called professional (?) football players. Quit crying and play the game. I thought I had seen Dallas at its lowest but this crybaby tells us all we need to know about this sorry franchise. Somebody change this baby's diapers and get him a bottle to nurse on. Poor little Cowboy.

Vikings throw late TD in blowout, Brooking goes after Favre
    By Chris Chase

Did the Minnesota Vikings run up the score on the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's NFC divisional playoff? Keith Brooking(notes) thinks so. A late Brett Favre(notes) touchdown pass infuriated the Dallas linebacker, who charged over to the Vikings' sideline to voice his displeasure. And in his postgame press conference he didn't back down.

The Vikings had held a comfortable 27-3 lead since the early part of the fourth quarter. Dallas looked completely deflated after going down 24 points and the team's subsequent play did nothing to dispel that notion. On the Cowboys' next two possessions the team went four-and-out, gaining a mere 14 yards on eight plays.

After the second turnover on downs, Minnesota took over on Dallas' 37-yard line. With 5:26 remaining and the Vikes holding a nearly insurmountable lead, runs to milk the clock were expected. But after an Adrian Peterson run on first down, Favre hit Bernard Berrian(notes) for 19 yards on the next play. Two Peterson runs followed, before Favre threw a short three-yard pass to bring up fourth-and-three after the two minute warning.

Here, the Vikes had four choices: 1. They could take a knee and give Dallas the ball back for the game's final two minutes; 2. Wave a partial white flag and run the ball up the middle; 3. Kick a field goal (which also could have been percevied as running up the score); 4. Drop Favre back to attempt a pass.

Minnesota went with option No. 4 and Favre hit tight end Visanthe Shiancoe(notes) for an 11-yard touchdown. This choice did not go over well with Brooking. The Cowboys' linebacker, presumably upset because he felt Minnesota was running up the score, stormed over to the Vikings sideline and exchanged words with coaches and players, including Favre. He had yet to calm down after the game:

"I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful. This is the NFL, that's not what this is about. I don't think there's a place for that ... I was looking for [Vikings coach Brad] Childress. I didn't think it was right, but they've got to see us next year."

Brooking needs to relax and listen to his own words.

He's right. This is the NFL, not high school or college. The Dallas Cowboys don't get sympathy. Throwing that pass may not have been the greatest sportsmanship, but it also wasn't an affront to decency. If Brooking didn't want Minnesota to score then maybe he and his 10 teammates on the field should have done something about it.

Just because the Cowboys quit doesn't mean the Vikings needed to also.

Cowboys looked like highschoolers out there. Their game was bad. There is nothing you can do other than say that the Vikings completely outplayed them.

You are correct. It was the Cowboys who were classless for their ranting about the Vikings running up the score. If Jerry and the Boys would get their act together, this wouldn't have been a problem. Boy, how far the Cowboys have fallen since the Landry era- one playoff win in 15 years, thugs like TO and Pacman Jones running the show, a micromanaging owner with a puppet for a coach. Very sad (except for a few class acts like Jason Witten and Miles Austin).

I agree! This is the NFL. If you have room to complain about the other team scoring up on you, then you have room for a pay cut.

The extra scoring was all about mental preparation for the next game against the Saints. The game is also psychological and the Vikings were just trying to make the Saints nervous.

OMG a Post about Sports... its awesome! (sadly, it'll get like 2 more replies and disappear...)

I can't beleive an "pro" athlete would complain about that. Should of yelled at his own team for being so outplayed. I wonder what he would do if he applied for a normal job and didnt get it... yell at the interviewer? Spoiled I guess...? Pretty sad either way... sore loser ah yes thats the term.

Tony Romo is a failure of an athlete and Keith Brooking is emo.

Hmmm, didn't the Cowboys run up the score against the Eagles? Did Brooking complain about that? The Cowboys played badly and just couldn't beat the dynamite duo of Favre and Rice. They deserved to lose and how sweet it was to watch. Now the Saints await and it seems fairly certain that one team will run up the score. Hopefully the loser won't wail and gnash his teeth like Brooking did.

Brooking's hooping and hollering when Dallas beat my beloved Falcons really pissed me off. He deserves all the ridicule thrown his way.

Go Vikings! I thought it was great and to think that some grown men just can't handle getting their ass kicked. At the professional level I don't believe there should ever be complaints about running up the score...suck it up and play better defense.

Brett Favre is coming off one a his best years in his career. That last touchdown gave him a career high 4 TDs in a playoff game and is a huge momentum driver as they prepare to go to New Orleans. This season he had a career high QB rating (107 - and 1st time it was above 100 for a season) along with % pass completions and a career low for interceptions with only 7! His stats for passing yards, TDs, yards/game haven't been this high since 97-98.

Obviously being a Vikings fan I have never really been a Brett Favre fan, but have always respected what he has done throughout his career. I also realize that without him behind center this year the Vikings definitely wouldn't be in the position they are in and I am definitely glad he decided to come back to play this year!

I just think it's cool that Brett Favre is having one of his best NFL years. 40 years old and playing some great football. Awesome. I hope both teams bring their A game next week though I'm rooting for the Vikings.

Perhaps Favre will get his Super Bowl ring this year. Many Packer fans have changed from Packer fans to Favre fans and are wearing purple 4 jersey's. Those purple 4 jerseys are in high demand here. I think he just wants to go to the Super Bowl and that is why he came back again the 2nd time. That guy is so hot looking at 40 yet

Hmmm! I wonder what Terrell Owens has to sayicon_biggrin.gif

I was a Chargers fanicon_eek.gif Games like that makes you think some of the games are fixed...How do you make 64 straight field goals with out a miss; then all of a sudden you miss 3 straight against the Jets...no really the Jetsicon_eek.gif The loss of that game is squarely on the shoulders of Nate Kaeding. I liked the Vikes when they had Culpepper, Moss, Chris Carter, Robert Smith, Denny Green was the coach. They had a great team. Beat Brett Favre in the regular season then turned around and lost to him in the playoffs. But now I am focused on Indy, they better win.

Oh, by the way, the Boys suckicon_mad.gif Them and their new stadiumicon_mad.gif

It's pro football.. Stop them.. there is no such thing as "running up" the score. Only winning and losing. They had their defense of the field. The Cowboys are pussies.
