There seems to be a lot of good testimony coming out of this trial. I look forward to seeing the reenactment that one group of people are doing of the trial for Youtube. People need to see it.

Me too. After the "therapy" I had a huge drop of my libido, spent some 7 years almost asexual, then went to therapy again to recover it. I think I'm fine now, but every time I see the way libido manifests in some people I have my doubts. My libido is not like it was when I was 15, but I've been told libido "normalizes" for most people after this age (at least I hope so...) icon_neutral.gif

All these so-called "ex gay " therepies and programs have been a disastrous failure and have ruined countless innocent lives. Since these therepies have been found to be so potentially dangerous, why isn't there a serious attempt to outlaw these ex gay programs and put these extremist right wing lunatics out of the business of ruining and in some cases destroying innocent human lives.

Some men/women don't see being homosexual as being a normal behavior, and those same people want to seek a normal life where they can be accepted by society and their families as normal people.

The urge to be 'normal' is really strong. You asking why these programs aren't stopped is almost the same as asking why do people get cosmetic surgery when there is a chance they might die under the knife.

The bottom line is that your sexual orientation cannot be changed because that is what you naturally are like it or lump it. Some of these men who think that their homosexuality is not not normal are not going to have any viable choice but to start loving and accepting themselves for what they are and not condemning themselves for what they are not. It takes a long time but family and friends do eventually come around and come to terms with a relative's natural sexual orientation.

I couldn't even sit through the videos... "ex-gay therapy" is a scam that plays off people's fears and ignorance. It makes me want to destroy something to see it played out.

That isn't always the case. In many situations, family and friends never accept their kin or their friendships with gay individuals, respectively. In such cases, the person may internalize those feelings and work even harder to "remove" homosexuality from their life (i.e., suppress it).

For some people, being accepted and having the love and reinforcement of friends and family is more important than accepting their homosexuality. Not everyone subscribes to the liberal idea of "coming out," and many times, gay individuals themselves may not even believe in homosexuality - people have varying opinions and priorities when it comes to their personal lives and feelings, so you really can't demand uniformity.

This is disgusting. Anyone who is stupid and spineless enough to believe this actually works, deserves to be "converted" and live a life of falsness and anguish.
