so i recently (last week) stopped eating dairy! (i found out from a HHP that dairy can be a trigger for headaches/migraines which i have suffered from my whole life)

so with this news i cold turkey cut dairy out of my life, which really only consisted of cheese lol

any good non-dairy "cheese's" that anyone knows about?!

i just tried a (and the name alone should scare you away lol) "Mozzarella flavored vegan soy block" when i made pizza and i cant stress how happy i was that i only decided to try it on have the pizza i made . . . lol it was absolutely disgusting haha >_<

so again, anyone know a good brand for non-dairy "cheese's"

I don't eat cheese very often, but if you want to check out soy or veg cheese just experiment with different brands because they are all different. I would stay away from things that have lots of additional flavors to see if it's the "cheese" itself or the flavors that are disgusting.
Ever try just making your pizza or whatever without cheese? Try drizzling some good olive oil over it, or using a little extra in the sauce. It can add a rich taste to whatever your making. You can also add it to bread crumbs and top the pizza with them, then brown the topping under the broiler.

yeah the pizza i made today was made with the "cheese" only on half . the other half just had sauce. and it was good. i will be content with just sauce but if there was a good soy based or rice based "cheese" i would be happy lol.

Almond cheese is not bad. I tried the mozzarella, and liked it.

Pizza without cheese isn't really pizza. icon_lol.gif

You might want to check out bruschetta recipes. I know it's supposed to be an appetizer, but I think it's pretty tasty stuff and it makes a decent snack. All you need are bread, fresh tomatoes, olive oil, and maybe top it off with bacon or some other meat. Or if you're not a meat eater, thin tofu slices.

yeah i would try that but i absolutely hate tomato's unless they are made into sauces, i cringe if i accidentally bite into a tomato in it's real form lol

Make sure to read the ingredients, because some of those cheese alternatives contain caseinate, which is a milk protein. (Why the hell make fake cheese with a milk derivative? Makes no sense to me...)

I am lactose-intolerant as well. Love the Lactaid brand of milk and here's the link to their product line. P.S. Let the top part of the screen scroll acrossicon_wink.gif

My best friend is vegan and she has made me nachos and pizza with a brand of vegan "cheese" called Daiya, http://www.daiyafoods.com/index.asp which is quite good. It melts just like real cheese and is a great substitute.

She has a really fun vegan blog, called Cookies with Christel, I'm not vegan but I have had almost everything she posts and it has all been really good stuff.

    Hope that helps.
