Silly lonely people. I'm surprised they didn't end the posting with a question about whether their lust interest is a top or bottom to avoid wasting any precious communication time.

    Kidding! icon_smile.gif

whats stupid about believing that the probability of that person seeing your ad and replying might happen?....its called taking a leap of faith. People gravitate to the idea that such a one in a million chance exist...dont call them stupid for believing in second chances.

I remember browsing craigslist for free furniture, but I was curious to the personals and I wondered right into the section that you're talking about.

I read someone asking some guy at a gym if he worked out a lot there and I thought to myself, "Um, why would you ask this on craigslist where 9/10 they probably don't even use. And for THAT MATTER, I don't you think they'd be super creeped out even if they did find it?"

I became aware of craigslist thanks to a coworker who discovered a group of student posting missed connections about me. Apparently they were visiting my workplace and trying to figure out in whom I'd be interested. It was both flattering and creepy. We still laugh about it at work. However, I'd not go so far as to call these people stupid. No every person has the cojones to just approach and go.

Hmmm, but are you laughing at them or with them?
Admittedly some of the people on craigslist are completely ridiculous. Yet on occasion you'll read a genuine posting that reminds you of the possibilities inherent in life.

What about all the people who have online relationships, is this not dumb too?

I mean I know how I live, and how I'm seen in my daily life by others out here; yet this does not aways come across in my persona on the net. hay I get to be me out here all the time, and get to be difficult to some on the net.

So is not having a relationship on the net just as dumb?

Don't get me wrong you may get one success story in a million, so it can happen!

laughing at them because it reveals the fear inside that it could happen to me.
laugh with them because they've done their best by trying.

All the stupid people, where do they all come from?

I'm sure the OP's thread title was a skillful play on the Beatles' song Eleanor Rigby:

"All the lonely people, where do they all come from?"

But did you know there's an obscure alternate set of lyrics, which does mention stupid people? Yes! And here it is (with piano accompaniment below, so you can sing along):

Ah, look at all the stupid people
Ah, look at all the stupid people

Eleanor Rigby, tunes in a show where the talk is about this and that
    Like eating cat
Looks out the window, mouthing the words she misheard on the show just before
    Tune back for more

    All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
    All the stupid people
    Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie, writing the words of I-Ms that nobody will read
    No one takes heed
Look at him typing, surfing the net in the night when he's nothing to say
    Shouldn't he pray?

    All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
    All the stupid people
    Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the stupid people
Ah, look at all the stupid people

Eleanor Rigby, died of her wounds and was buried along with her cat
    In mortal combat
Father McKenzie, wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the plot
    Smarts she had not

    All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
    All the stupid people
    Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the stupid people
Ah, look at all the stupid people (repeat to end)

I actually responded to one a while back that read.

“I saw you at the gym today thought you were hot.”

I was at the gym that day so…

The most Puh-HA-THETIC of these I see locally (and I do read them for a laugh) are the guys who see someone at Steamworks (bath-house) and post it.

    Really?

This is beyond desperation. Grow some balls, borrow them from Hillary Clinton, whatever - and TALK to someone!

Apparently a lot of people believe in serendipity, which is, in a funny way, kind of nice.
