People using fake pictures

    Hey all

Just wanted to gripe about something that has been driving me crazy pretty much ever since I started using any form of social networking to find a significant other. I realize that this is generally a futile enterprise, but I don't drink or dance so clubs really aren't that interesting to me. Plus, loud music that I don't have control over (meaning I didn't chose to go to the show or a band that I chose to see) gives me terrible anxiety.

That being said, I'm totally baffled as to why people use fake pictures, especially if they live close. I would assume that they would expect that I would meet them in person.

I've been burned with this scenario a few times and have wised up to all the tell tale signs (won't turn on webcam, won't give out phone number for photo from that, won't take additional photos, camera is broken, other BS) but am still baffled as to why people do this. It's destructive and I think both parties end up disappointed in the end.

Just looking for other people's two cents on this..

    Thanks for reading.

I am sure that many others have had this happen also. For me, the one time it did happen, I asked the guy to come on over to my place. Once he arrived and he looked nothing like his photo or his description, I asked him why....and he replied "Well, I thought that since I was already here, you wouldn't mind going ahead and 'doing it' with me." 40.gif
Other guys that I have talked to on other sites have said that they use fake photos because they are older and lonely and it seems no one is even interested in a friendship with them when they use their real photo. Therefore they use a photo of a young handsome guy in hopes of starting a friendship and hoping that when you get to know them, you will like the "person inside" enough to overlook their "small deception". 46.gif

I haven't actually had someone over like that, but I've had month long correspondence with people who turned out to be liars.... I hate it.

As far as someone being older and lonely is concerned, if some younger twat doesn't respond to a Polite, respectful, and tastefull message, what would be the point of talking to someone so much lower than your maturity level anyway unless you just wanted to fuck.

But I mean, in general that's never going to happen in this scenario.

Very true...but for some of those who live in a "fantasy"....the internet is enough and far more preferable to the real world. icon_sad.gif

    I guess. How tragically disappointing.
