I'll preface this by saying I've just arrived, but I don't understand how some of you can speak to each other the way that you do. There is a lot of hostility and anger in many of these threads, coupled with a lot of name-calling, spiteful indictments, and just general negativity.

I don't understand the point of coming here just to pick fights and bitch at other people that you've never met, and have no real intention of getting to know. I think that most of the people engaging in this type of thing forget that there are people on the other side of the keyboard...it's easy to get online and say disgusting things to one another, but I bet most of you wouldn't have the intestinal temerity to actually speak that way to each other outside of this platform. I consider that kind of online attitude and approach a form of cowardice, and I hate that many people here are reduced to that because they can get away with it. It's just adolescent and unnecessary.

if someones rude cuz they call people names fro no reason then yeah. but if someones rude for good reason or is rude but writes a smart reply cuz another person told somethings stupid then no problem there.

The best I can describe it to you is that we are one great big dysfunctional family. We bitch and moan and complain and say really awful things. Some of us say really stupid things. Some of us cast our pearls before swine. But in the end it is the opportunity to vent that provides the greatest satisfaction. If we were to meet, most of us would at least give each other a handshake. We might not always agree with one another, and yes, we could be a little more civil in our interactions, but hell, sometimes we learn something from each other when we least expect it.

Meh. It happens for a variety of reasons. People think that the person isn't understanding their point, and so use harsher language. Or take offense at someone else's blunt assessment. Or someone thinks that because someone disagreed with them, and/or was maybe a bit bitchy, that they need to flame back.

Me, I don't have much in the way of personal stake in my posts. I figure some people will agree with me, some people will not, and others will just think I'm boring. lol

Rather than look at others, just keep your own posts nice and civil, and ignore the ones that distress ya. Or, you can just sit back and "people watch." That's fun too, seeing the drama but not being a part of it.

    Good luck!

The only person dealing with harsh criticism here is poor Heidi Montag :'-(

There are rude people in life and on the computer. It's reality. Get over it or lock yourself in a room, throw out your computer along with the key, so you can save yourself from such misery...

Haha her yoga skills are amazing!

I don't personally have an issue with rudeness, but I was just making an observation about many of the threads and people's approaches.

lol, that's sweet, essentialife, You're stepping into a website where there has been lots of history between members. As time goes by you'll begin seeing the whys to behaviors between people here. Some of the acrimony is well justified.

Rude is the new normal, it seems.

I grew up in a polite world where we would never think of saying something that would hurt someone's feelings. That was Canada though, where we are pathologically polite.

Americans, not so much, it seems. from the ones I have come across.

Maybe Americnatis is spreading around the world.

Well yep, it's true when people can't see you face to face they'll say things they'd never dream of saying to your face. That's just internet 2.0 (if you've seen YouTube trolls you'll know what I mean). RJ in comparison is probably less dramatic
