A healthy 10-day semi-fast?

I've read a lot about fasting and whether or not it's healthy and I pretty much feel that a complete balls out fast is not healthy and isn't for me. Having taken some nutrition classes and having some knowledge (though admittedly not much) in the area, I've come up with what I think is a decent alternative 10-day plan and am interested in what others think:

    Days 1-5
    No alcohol
    No carbonated beverages
    No caffiene
    Protein Shake for breakfast
    Mid-Morning Snack (fruit and almonds)
Protein Shake for lunch with carrots
    Mid-Afternoon Snack (low-fat cheese)
    Protein Shake for dinner

    Approx. Caloric Intake: 1,000

    Days 5-10
    No alcohol
    No carbonated beverages
    No Caffiene
    Protein Shake for breakfast
    Mid-Morning Snack (fruit and almonds)
Lite lunch (chicken breast with veggies)
    Mid-Afternoon snack (low-fat cheese)
    Protein Shake for dinner

    Approx. Caloric Intake: 1,250

    There it is...thoughts?

hey. i was actually looking at some fasting info on the net a few days ago.

although im very open minded to alternative procedures, fasting looks hardcore. apparently its good for you, but i turn into a rancid cunt if i dont eat every hour. i cant imagine 1 day, let alone 5.

    hope this helps babe.

Looks good, but on many fasting diets you can have lots of vegetable juices, like V8 or a vegetable juice that you make yourself. There are some vegetable soups you can have too. Don't deny yourself phytonutrients and electrolytes.

I don't get it, is this to loose weight?

I never get why people fast anyways. Some people I know fast and they are the ones always sick and either awkwardly skinny or unproportionately fat.

I mean won't you rather eat healthy? Like 2000 calories a day + exercise = healthy body and mind icon_smile.gif

but just based on your plan, I think it sounds fine, I guess. Protein shakes give you some important nutrients you need daily, but if I can recommend something, maybe add some tuna (straight from the can) to that plan because 3 protein shakes and 2 "Snacks" is quite dramatic, no?

Why do you want to fast? What is it´s purpose. Restricting your calorie intake for so long is quite extreme and you need to have very clear ideas of what you expect to gain from doing so.

I'm trying to kick-start a 30 day plan to lose 10lbs. I'm combining it with light exercise for 10 days followed by a return to my normal workout schedule and more balanced (1,800 calories/day) diet after day 10. The goal is simply weight loss.
