In all honesty, it wouldn't have been the greatest career move for current officers to explicitly and publicly support it.

But they are still fuckers if they think the contrary. Also, if they believe in it, they can stand up for it like countless others and risk their jobs.

They will die eventually.... and soon enough, younger and more modern thinkers will be in power.

Until the crusty old stupid men who run the military die or gravity reverses on them one day.... it'll be the same as it always was.

For me... been there, done that.

I'm sure people in America said and thought the same thing a 100 years ago too. But on this topic, thanks to Bill Clinton, things only went backwards.

It's not any kind of victory or statement, it's just nothing. It's like the ideals or principals themselves are empty and pointless if they can't by themselves cause change or correction.
That's not good enough for me. What is the point of principal or ideas in regard to human dignity or rights if the only time they really come to pass is when the people blocking them die off?

Yeah all he did was give a means to prosecute people more effectively while at the same time make less-thinking people believe he did something for the better, like some kind of good compromise icon_sad.gif.

Not on this topic at all.... they're discussing obama's dadt message, not clinton.

Also, 100 years ago in america I'm sure they were far more concerned with other issues than homosexuality in the military.

This is all more lip service from ther Liar in Chief. If he truely wanted to repeal DADT, he has the power to issue and exeuctive order to implement all of the necessary procedures and elements to speed up the process short of what is needed for signed legislation. Even then he can repeal DADT simply by exeuctive order and without public support it's doubtful that the next person elected to the office of President would consider reinstating DADT. The President has the authority to issue an order to halt the operation of DADT under 10 U. S. C. 12305 . Also, HR1283, which would repeal DADT is still in committee, If a stimulus pkg can be rushed through in a matter of a few days , it shouldn't take a year or more to move HR 1283 through the house.
The President could stop sending lawyers from the DOJ to defend the DOM act, without federal lawers to defend it DOM would fall.
It's all smoke and mirrors, just like blaming the Republicans because the Democrat super majority hasn't been able to move his agenda through congress. Lets be real, the Republicans don't have enough votes in either house to stop anything and even if they wanted to they couldn't stop the repeal of DADT either.

I don't think that look represents their opinion on DADT. You can pull that same image with the same look out of any period during the speech.
