I can't workout without music. I like to mix it up between hard core house music (Bravehound you rock!) and hard rock (Slipknot gets me pumped!).

When I run or bike i don't usually listen to music since during a tri it's a rule violation to be listening to music on the course. I want to train under the same conditions as a race. When I'm lifting weights I use the slacker mp3 player which is on whatever station I'm in the mood to hear.

Awesome. Same here - progressive trance is great, and I would recommend a continuous DJ broadcast (rather than gaps between songs) since it makes time fly!

I'm probably one of the rare few that enjoys listening to country and reggae music when I work out....not too sure why but it works, sort of has a calming effect that lets me focus i guess.

But with cardio I need rap, house, or hiphop usually....or the soundtrack from Night at the Roxbury ha

I'm in my 40's and tend to like rock/upbeat pop. Here's what I've listened to recently:

Don’t stop me now – Queen
Ready to Start – Arcade Fire
    Ray of Light – Madonna
    Uprising – Muse
    Hold On – KT Tunstall
    Mixed Bizness – Beck
    Mr. Blue Sky – ELO
Go Your Own way – Fleetwood Mac
    O Valencia – Decemberists
Perfect Time of Day – Howie Day
Charlie – Red Hot chili Peppers
Let Me Entertain You – Robbie Williams
Running Down a Dream - Tom Petty

I love listening to music while working out... helps keep me focused.

I generally listen to dance music but also dip into alternative rock. When I feel more nerdy, I have been known to crack out video game music that gets me pumped.
