Great article about injuries at the gym. What's your most embarrassing moment at the gym?

mine was at the gym but not when I was working out, I'd sat down in a chair for a moment, got up and promptly tried to walk through a low sitting leather lounge chair type thing.

Well, the chair being an actual physical object walking through it wasn't going to happen, however, falling over it did.

I was busted by one women who laughed her arse off and got everyone around her going too hahaha thankfully I found it almost as hysterical as she did.

Not overly embarrassing, but I once got a huge bruse from banging my shin against the seated calf machiene trying to get up from it!

Not really an injury, but fairly recently I almost passed out from staying in the sauna for too long after a workout.

And when I say almost passed out, I mean that I was lying on the ground struggling to stay conscious.

I went to pull the 45lb weight off the bar after I had finished military presses forgetting that I also had 10lb weights on as well. So the 10 fell straight down, on my foot. Kind of hurt.

The one and only time when I did an aerobics class was in high school. I turned and sprained my ankle. I couldn't tell anyone that I did it during aerobics so I lied and said I did it during my Tae Kwon Do class.

Was doing bench presses and after several sets I couldn't push it back up any longer that I had to bring it down, rest it on my body and roll the bar down off of me. I was red from embarrassment....but also kind of disappointment that someone didn't come to help me icon_sad.gif

There was this girl who at the gym got on the stair master and person previous to her turned off the machine without lowering the speed so when she turned the machine on, it picked up from the speed prior, lol. and she had to hustle her ass to not be thrown on the ground or being eatin by the machine, lol. She ultimately let go and was thrown to the ground.

She nor I couldn't stop ourselves from laughing!! oh man that was hilarious..

That sounds quite dangerous! It probably pays to use a timer, sweat with a friend or avoid the sauna altogether, if you're prone to losing track of time.

As for moi, I used to exercise with a trainer and he'd always stop the treadmill, only one day he forgot. For some reason, I couldn't find the huge red Stop button, so I ended up stepping off the treadmill without stopping it first. Fell face forward and slid to the end. Didn't exactly build muscle that day, but it did build some character icon_smile.gif

Smashed my head on a bar getting up from a bench in Rome. I had a bloody paper towel on my head for about 15 minutes.

No major injuries, but I do sometimes bump into the equipment, I guess because it can be so irregular in shape, walking through the gym being like an obstacle course. And I get careless when I become tired after a long session. But I have more trouble in the locker room.

I've conked my head quite a few times when leaned over on the bench for my shoes, on an open locker door, when using the smaller sized lockers stacked 2 or 3 high. I've also fallen in the gang shower, nothing broken, but looking stupid when you're naked always seems more embarrassing. I tend to trip on any uneven surface or step around a shower room or sauna, because I'm close to blind without my eyeglasses on, and for some reasons those places are often poorly lit.

Was working out at a quiet gym on an Army base.
Bunch of younger guys came in who I'd never seen before.
They were horsing around and being rough on the equipment.
Several of 'em started f'ing around with a new treadmill.
The fun happened when the head idiot got the machine moving at top speed and jumped off.

When he tried to jump back on he went heels over head. If the treadmill had not been backed up to a wall, the incident would have ended much sooner.
But the tumbling dummy had no where to fall until the machine sort of walked itself forward enough that he could drop to the floor.

    Luckily the machine wasn't hurt.
The guy wasn't either. But the treadmill took his sweat pants down and his buddies had a hardy laugh.

    Good times.

In my power yoga class yesterday morning, the room was so packed that our mats were touching on all sides.

The guy in front of me kicked me twice in the head, and during one of the back bends, I lost my footing and landed on my head. Good thing my mat is padded, but still have a bit of a dull pain in my head.

A girl fell off her BOSU last week landed right on her ass then bounced off and hit the floor. Nothing hurt but her ego.

Also, first-time trainer two weeks ago fell off the portable stage during a Turbo Kick class. I didn't know how to react except walk away.
