It means you've been talking to a dog. Dogs can be cute, but it get's kinda annoying when they start sniffing your crotch :-)

I know guys mean well by saying "woof", but I find it rather annoying getting an email with nothing by "WOOF" in the title and nothing else. At least it's marginally better than just having someone unlock their dick shots and then await your response.

"HOT" gets a response from me. "WOOF" does not.

It doesn't exactly bother me. I just wasn't clear on what it meant. I assumed it was just a comical way of saying “you’re hot,” or something like that. But then I thought…maybe that’s not what they mean. Anyhow, now I think I get it.

Woof can mean anything from a simple Hi, to an expression similar to a cat call or whistle. It's said to originate from the Bear community though that may be an exagerated stereotype. Eitherway it's no warm to anyone is it?

Now I use Woof, but I use it in place of fuck or shit. I am trying to get rid of bad words and it just came out one day when I hit my finger with a hammer.

You guys crack me up sometimes.... I don't know whether you actually are going wide and deep in thought or it's just all a joke.

WOOF: CAN MEAN MANY THINGS, BUT USUALLY IT'S A TERM DEFINING A HAIRY BEAR.

LOT'S OF HAIR... DOGS AND WOLVES ARE NOTHING BUT HAIR.

BUT IT'S DEFINITELY A TERM OF ENDEARMENT OR LUST MEANING YOUR HOT, SEXY OR FINE.

WOOF'S SPORTS BAR IN ATLANTA, GA. I think it still exist. You may contact them for more info.

I love "woof". It let's me know I am dealing with an animal...and I like that. I use myself sometimes...when appropriate.

Don't some guys just make you want to bark?

You're funny travnasty - no, I don't think anything has ever brought forth the desire to bark, howl, growl or anything else along that line. YET... ;)

Woof! I like the SOUND of it. With me, its Definitely a Positive Comment of Attraction. Would you rather have someone say,"He Gurds My Loins up!", I mean it is seems "to me" that it is a 'way' of saying to that Individual that his photo causes You to "Feel" TURNED ON, or Attracted to him significantly. For me, it is Usually a Hot Guy, which is in the eyes as well as elsewhere, but who most of the time has a nice Hairy Chest. I would say there are many Woofy men here. Be Happy. Appreciate someone giving you a compliment.
    Smile :)

It`s a term of endearment between two bear men.It can mean "hallo","you`re real sexy and I`d like to know you better",a check to see if the guy`s gay, even a blessing on the guy!

    wow! so many useless replies!

When someone says "woof!" to you, that means "hello", or even better "you're hot", etc... like an excited puppy when he sees his Master. It's just a friendly greeting!

    Here's one more useless reply:

My softball team used to be called the Big Bad Woof!s. Id made me cringe to tell people this was my team's name. I didn't even know what woof meant until our third year.

I lobbied to get our name changed to "The Pirates" but the reaction was usually polite silence.

    We have a "Woof's" in columbus... it's a fatty/bear bar.

I glare at people who "woof" at me or call me "pup". But it's mainly because I hate dogs and don't want to be associated with them.

From the Boston Online Gay dictionary: " "Woof" in gay terms is the canonical gay bear sound of approbation. It's not a dog's 'woof', rather the breathy 'wuf' a bear makes when showing interest.

For those coming up to speed on Gay Subcultures 101, "Bears" (& Cubs, Muscle Bears, Daddy Bears, Polar Bears, Wolves, Otters, and other assorted furry menagerie) are the big hairy friendly lugs of the gay community. They range in size and shape but are typically identified by their Paul Bunyan attire and hirsute face.

There are Bear Clubs ("Mass Bay Bears") for Bears & fellas who are into Bears to get together to socialize. Bear Magazines, offering everything from porn ("Bear", 'American Bear", "Euro Bear", "Grizzly", etc.) to lifestyle tips ("A Bears Life"). Bear websites ("Bear411") for online congregating. Bear Events ("Out of Hibernation", "Int'l Bear Rendezvous", "Bear Trek"), and of course Bear Bars ("The Alley Bar"). There's even an annual "Mr. New England Bear" title holder.

The phrase "woof" and term "Bear" are widely recognized in the popular culture these days with references popping up everywhere from "The Simpsons" to "The New Republic". Indeed "Bear" has gone internationial with "Bear", "Orsi", "Orso" etc. groups organizing & fraternizing around the globe."
