Moderation is the key--too bad it's in just about everything; even the bread and bagels I eat have HFCS.

    NOTE FROM THE OP:

When I first saw the HFCS ad...I thought THAT was a parody. Then I realized...it is for real. Unbelievable.

The spoof is Jackie Beat. She has a lot of funny parodies. icon_smile.gif

But the OP is right, everyone needs to calm the hell down. icon_smile.gif

The key words in her statement were "fine in moderation." The problem is that HFCS is used in so many processed foods that people are not getting it in moderation.

I have actually lost weight just by not eating processed food with its hidden fat, HFCS, and salt.

Jackie Beat once called me out from a large audience and pulled me on stage and just about dressed me down in front of several friends...we still get a kick out of that memory now and then.

The spoof video cracked me up.

    Thanks for posting!

    Disgusting...

Notice at the end on the bottom: Corn Refiners Association.

Ya the facts from the CRA--they're def unbiased.icon_rolleyes.gif

This is one of the downfalls of living in a capitalistic society.

Thanks for sharing Michael.... there are probably many people who really don't understand what is even being suggested in this ad. People suck popsickles because its pleasurable, the same way they eat improperly and drink the wrong things (which partially applies to me).

Yeah, I cringe every time those ads are shown. They're so misleading!

No, what is wrong with America is no one takes responsibility for themselves anymore.
I made it my job long ago to find out what each ingredient in my food was and did, which back then was before the internet put it all at your fingertips. Some people are just lazy.
Yes, I know what you are going to say "Not everybody has the means to buy healthy food!"
Despite that moron who deliberately gorged himself and made a movie out of it, "Supersize me!", you can eat 'healthier' at MickeyD's. Just don't order the Big Mac or the Dbl Cheeseburger! Don't eat the damn french fries, even though they come with the meal.(Wanna see a someone's head nearly explode? Order the sandwich & drink ONLY. It almost causes brain-circuits to burnout trying to realize that you don't want a "combo"!!) My sister lost 10 lbs in just 3 months simply by cutting out the french fries. It takes willpower to not eat them, but once you stop, you'll wonder why you ate those 'grease logs' anyway!

The 2nd ad (Sundayswims version) told the truth about HFCS and the reason it is overwhelmingly used in our foods. Tell your Congressman to stop subsidizing sugar producers in the US and we'll see food prices come down and also lower costs in some cases.

To the OP, I'm not sure if having that commercial aired is what is wrong with America. Perhaps the fact that people actually believe what companies tell them to believe is the most disheartening and concerning. I can't believe the great number of people so pro-business that they would harm the welfare of their children or other peoples children just so long as they agree with the big company.

That is why Wal Mart is still in business and how the financial sector can rob people blind. In this day and age it seems almost obvious that most people under 30 have never boycotted anything in their life. Boycotting takes a bit of effort and self sacrifice and as we've seen on another thread "I want my latte!".

Also, someone mentioned McDonalds. Of course McDonalds uses addictive ingredients like fructose in their bread. Just for S and G's, here is an ingredient list of the McDonald's menu:

I'm constantly amazed at how gullible some folks are: God is real. Big Business knows what's best for you. We're making you suffer for your own good. For $18 a pill, yes, you, too, can have a hard on.

Didn't Rahm Emmanuel or Nancy Pelosi say this about devastating costs of Health Care Reform?icon_wink.gif

This must be an American thing. In Oz, we don't really use HFCS. I've heard all about the hype etc, but it's not really an issues down here.

Soft drinks like Coke are sweetened with cane sugar and not HFCS. In fact, it's difficult to even get corn syrup in the shops. Or maybe that's just me, and my dodgy supermarket...

    Anyway...
