so what if Diddy buys his son a car?

So yes, there is a disaster in Haiti and as far as I know, this is not Diddy's fault.

He bought his son a car that cost 350,000 dollars and gave him a check for 10,000 dollars which his son gave to a Haitian relief fund.

Now, why are people mad at him for buying his son this car and why are they saying its a "douch bag" move considering what is going on in Haiti.

Movie-goers made AVATAR a BILLION dollar success, should 20th Century Fox or James Cameron donate money to Haiti?

Jennifer Aniston gave I believe 500,000 dollars to Haiti so does that mean the rest of the FRIENDS cast should be scolded for not giving or matching that same amount?

I can't believe that people are mad at him for spending HIS OWN money when he has nothing to do with Haiti.

Donations are what you choose to give and he gave money so why is the media attacking him and as far as I'm concerned, the only people who have a leg to stand on are those who have donated MORE then 10,000 dollars and even then, slamming someone for giving less money then you did?

Since when did it become OK to judge someone on how they spend their own earned money?

I bet if Tiger Woods donated one million dollars people would say he is buying good publicity.

There are always disasters in the world. And poor people. And hungry people. Not everyone with money can donate portions of their wealth for every cause. The Tiger Woods example you gave seems pretty accurate. People would scold him for trying to buy off his guilt or scold him for not giving enough (since he makes so much money).

I think people can do whatever they want with their money. I wouldn't think any less of them if they didn't contribute to charitable causes. However, I think it's really awesome when people actually do something good with their wealth and influence. Bill and Melinda Gates comes to mind.

    I agree.

I hate how everyone is expecting every celebrity to go HOMELESS giving to Haiti. Hello, there are constant disasters in the world, if wealthy people gave all the time, they'd have NO money for themselves.

Diddy works hard like all these celebrities, if they want to buy their kid a BILLION dollar car, they should. Haiti most certainly isn't paying Diddy's bills, so why should it matter what he is doing with his money.

I'm so SICK of people scolding anyone who doesn't give an arm and a leg to Haiti. Soon, there will be another major disaster that people are going to expect these American celebrities to break their backs giving more or else they will get black listed...

Also, let us say the OP is right about Jennifer Aniston giving $500,000 to Haiti. Even though she has money, that is a significant percentage of her wealth. If people expect Diddy to give a large sum of money to Haiti than they better be willing to give the same percentage of their earnings to the country. Otherwise, they have nothing to complain about.

I'll be honest on this one: I'm pretty humble now, but if I EVER could spend money like that, I'd sure as hell publicize it.

It's his money. Let him do what he wants with it.

It is his money to do with it what he wants but it's also ok for people to be disgruntled about that kind of extravagance in a time when so many things are going bad for lack of money if they want too as well. He shouldn't be upset about people getting upset about it. He is advantaged, others are not, that's what happens.

I refuse to give money to Haiti as my tax dollars are being used. Sorry to sound heart-less, but I am more concerned about what goes on within our own borders.

ME TOO! Like to be honest, I do NOT get why people are giving SO MUCH? Like hello... people right here in the states are struggling as it is... no one is helping poor them.

Anyways, Cali is going to have a HUGE earthquake, they say, so I'm hoping people break their necks to support us, like people and celebs here are doing for Haiti.

Haiti was in trouble long before the earth quake, many people there died preventably on a daily basis because of the poverty. This happens everywhere, and the one thing that can be guaranteed is that no matter what hour on the clock it is...some place somewhere in the world is in chaos. The grand scale disasters tend to be what wake us up though.

hmm yah he can do whatever he wants with his money.
And im all for helping Haiti but I dont understand why we have to get involved in everything. Other countries despise America. Yet there we go.
And yah i wonder who's gonna help when California finally gets that real big one

im a huge diddy fan. it doesnt really matter waht he bought his son for his birthday. he did donate to haiti as well. shit if i had the money id buy my kids a car like that too. just cause the news covered the fact that he bought his son a 300,000 dollar car doesnt make him a douch for doing it. the news just chooses to publish what they want.

I've got no problems with celebrities spending their money in this way. Just don't whinge about illegal downloads.
