Anyone else bummed that "500 Days of Summer" was snubbed by Oscar?

Personally, I think both "Hurt Locker" and "Up in The Air" were over-rated, though I thought they were good.

Very glad to see Sandra Bullock get a nod for "The Blind Side" though.

I was really lukewarm to the idea of going to watch "500 Days of Summer" but by the end I was sold. I think it was a good movie. Whether or not it deserves a nod more than "Hurt Locker", I'm not sure....I havent seen "Up In the Air" yet.

I thought that while The Blind Side was definitely a tear-jerking inspira-flick, it wasn't that innovative of a movie. But sometimes simple is best I guess.

It's a bit odd too, with 10 movies for best picture instead of just 5. :/

Agree with both of you guys. Didn't realize 500 Days was left out until I read this post. It was my favorite movie of the year... so different than any other movie I'd seen in a long time... funny, artisitic, cool cinematography, etc. What a shame it was left out.

Pretty shocked that "500 Days of Summer" didn't win anything since it was a great movie.

At the very least it deserved a nomination for best original screenplay, and I would have liked to see best director too.

I don't like the ten best picture nominee thing, it just looks like there's too many. If there weren't ten great movies, they shouldn't have to pick ten. Did The Blind Side really deserve a best pic nod?

My conclusion is that it was a shitty year for movies.

I really liked Avatar, but... "the best"? hmmm. It was a great ride and certainly revolutionized technology.

Up in the Air was cute, but I would never consider any facet of it Oscar worthy.

District Nine was really good and i thought, under-rated. But again, I don't know if it was so great it deserves to be there.

I didn't see Hurt Locker or Precious, so no comment.

But all in all, looking at the noms... shitty year.

I really want to see A Single Man... everything I've heard about it so far makes it seem like a front runner for best picture.

Jennifer's Body won best original screenplay last year...so it couldn't be nominated for anything this year.
