Anyone know anything about it? I've poked around online but lots of conflicting information.

I really need to bulk up more, I dropped to 155lbs during a physical last week. I can't lose any more weight but want to gain lean muscle. I've made progress but still don't think my intake is enough. I've changed some eating habits, but I'm not a big eater generally anyway. Only supp I use is whey protein, but somebody suggested looking into beta alanine. He didn't suggest I take it necessarily but thought I should learn more about it. I really don't like putting weird things in my body, and this sounds like it may be a weird thing. And it may not actually do anything.

I bought some about a week ago who knows why.. the guy at the store was good I guess and I figure what the hell. LOL Anyways, it says it take about 3 weeks to notice results and improve your stamina basically.. Nothing about gaining extra lean mass other than from better workouts, we'll see. I'm also taking creatine for the past two months just to see basically, jury is still out whether that has helped me or not.
About the not being a big eater.. that is me as well. I struggled with that back in my 20's when I first started and since I don't like to "eat" that much I really really had to force myself and still do. I can drop weight just by thinking about it. But I found it easier to drink so I drink a LOT of milk,, at least a quart or more a day sometimes 2 quarts and I mix 3 of the little measure cups of whey protein into each drink I make out of it. Now I drink skim mostly or 1% chocolate but when I was younger and wanted to bulk up I drank regular 3%. . I used to eat a lot more cheese then than I do now for quickly bulking up.

Then also I ate a LOT of eggs...much easier to force them down if you scramble them I think. I would eat 4-6 a day back then.. now I just eat 2-3 because I'm not aiming to get back up to around 215 again.

I've gained about 6 pounds over the last 3 months and gone down a pant size so something is working

    I took it once. I used a product called Beta K http://shop.ultimatenutrition.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/173?osCsid=da8f87f3dc

It was suggested when I was looking for Purple K and it was out of stock. I was told it was better since it had Beta Alanine as well as Creatine. One thing I did notice (and it mentioned it on the reviews I read) that it causes a tingling itchy sensation on the skin about 30 mins after taking it. It was very noticeable the first few times I used it, but leveled off after a while.

I had used it for a while for interval training for athletics however it is not intended for long term use (can stress the vessels). It is effective, and more suited to, body sculpting rather than body building or beginners trying to bulk.

As mentioned the pins and needles feeling can turn some people off, and it can also create a feeling of nausea which goes away in about 30 mins. I find it is not a necessary product at amateur level and potentially harmful at elite.

Another week gone by using this Beta Alanine and I'm actually thinking it is working over the last couple of days. My stamina has increased but it is too early yet so I'll revive this thread in another week or so. Maybe it's just a blip on the radar

The amino beta-alanine combines with a second amino histidine and forms carnosine in muscle tissue. Muscles with higher levels of carnosine have more strength and endurance. You can take carnosine by itself but the majority is destroyed in the stomach, so beta-alanine is def the way to go.

Its a great supp and I recommend you give it a shot. It can cause a slight flushing feeling that is harmless and goes away after a few minutes. It takes about 8-10 weeks for maximum benefits to take so don't shelf it after a week or two. It works great with creatine and I put my clients who want to gain muscle mass and lose bodyfat on both. A typical dose is 1-2g's before and after workouts.

Only people with a rare genetic disorder hyper-beta-alaninaemia (already elevated levels of beta-alanine) shouldn't take it - duh.

    Hope this helps - PEACE!

Great info, thanks a lot. I may give it a shot, I ordered some but haven't started taking it yet.
